Apparatus for automatically switching the electric current on and off at certain times.
The present invention relates to an apparatus with the aid of which the circuit of an electrical system at certain times, e.g. B. evenings and mornings, automatically interrupted or closed again.
For this purpose, a known type of clockwork is associated with a switching mechanism, which can be adjusted so that the required position occurs at the desired times. The switching mechanism consists essentially of two gearwheels driven by a gearwheel of the clockwork, on each of whose axes a contact disk working together with sliding contacts is attached, which, at the desired times, closes and interrupts an auxiliary circuit that can carry the main current or an external battery current, whereby a magnet system is influenced, which again acts on a double-armed switching lever, in which it attracts the right or left arm of this switching lever depending on the contact disc currently in contact and thereby interrupts or closes the main circuit.
The drawing illustrates the invention in a schematic representation.
The clockwork is only indicated by the gear 1. This gear 1 is in engagement with the two gears 2 and 3 of the switching mechanism. The contact disks 4 and 5, which are made of porcelain or another non-conductive material, are fastened to the axes of these gears 2 and 3. These disks have double-step notches, on the first step of which contact plates 6 and 7 are attached, which are connected to sliding contacts 10 and 10 ′ by means of contact rails 9 and 9 attached to the rear of the disks.
In front of the contact disks 4 and 5, contact springs 12 and 13 are arranged, which grind resiliently on the side surfaces of the disk and are in connection with the drag contacts 14 and 15, which are also arranged on the gear wheel axis, and with the setting pointers 11 and H, the latter via two with the Discs marked with hour numbers 1-24 25

Ssite the anchor plates 19 and 22 and lies with its ends against one of the plates 23 or 24, to which both the line of the main circuit B and that of the auxiliary circuit A is connected. The left end of the switching lever 17 carries a plate 26 on its upper side, to which the line of the main circuit B is brought.
The device works as follows:
Should the power of an electrical system be automatic at 11 o'clock in the evening. switched off and switched on again in the morning at 8 o'clock, the pointer 11 is to be set to the graduation of the number 23, the pointer 11 'to that of the number 8 of the disk 25 or 25'. Then the following process will occur:
By 11 o'clock in the evening, the disc 4, driven by the tame wheel 1, will have rotated so much that at this time your latching of the contact spring corresponding to the respective position of the pointer 11? 2 faces. The spring 12 snaps into place and comes to rest on the contact plate 6. This closes the auxiliary circuit A.
The electrical current in the same now flows from the power source through the lead wires to the ScMeppkontakt jf, via the spring 12, through the plate 6 and the contact bar 8 to the left drag contact 10, from there to the magnet 18, through its wrapping to the connection terminal of the plate 23 and from there back to the power source. There

the field of the magnet 18 is excited, the armature plate 19 is attracted, the switching lever 17 swings around its central position, the connection plate 26 on the switching lever 17 moves away from the plate 23 and thus the main circuit B is interrupted, 'the electrical current is switched off.
The contact disk 4 continues to move until the process is repeated the next day at the same time. The contact plate 6 is kept narrow so that the spring 12 only rests on it for a shorter period of time, so the auxiliary circuit A will soon be interrupted again so that the main circuit can be switched on again.
The electric current should be switched on at 8 a.m. At this time, the disk 5 has rotated so far that its engagement is opposite the contact spring 13. This snaps into place, lies on the contact plate 7, the auxiliary circuit A is closed again. The auxiliary current flows in this case from the power source through the supply line to the drag contact 15, via the spring 13, through the plate 7 and contact bar 9 to the right drag contact 10 ', from there to the magnet 21, through its winding to the connecting terminal of the plate 23 and from there to the power source back.
The field of the magnet M is excited, the armature plate 22 is attracted, the shift lever 17 swings around its central position into the position illustrated in the drawing, in which the plate 26 located at the left end of the lever, to which the line of the main circuit is connected, counteracts the plate 23, to which the line of the main circuit is also clamped, places, so that the main circuit is closed. The disc 5 continues to move so that the auxiliary circuit is soon interrupted again, whereupon the main current can be switched off again in the evening at 11 a.m.
