Pulp.

Two processes are mainly used to produce pulp for paper production; the soda process and the sulphite ancestor 1. In both procedures

Substances and the existing resins, etc. to dissolve. As soon as the cooking process is finished, the cooking liquor is drained and the remaining wood mass is washed with water. The latter has so far only been done in such a way that the finished cooked mass is placed in vessels with a sieve bottom, in channels or the like and rinsed with water. Washing is continued until the wash water no longer noticeably absorbs soluble components. The amounts of water which have been used in this process are extraordinarily large in both cooking methods.

The importance of the wastewater is different in the cooking process. In the soda process, one seeks if it is still worthwhile to recover the alkali by evaporating the more saturated part of the waste water. In the sulphite process, evaporation of the parts going on in the wastewater has so far only been carried out to a limited extent. But that would change as soon as the wastewater is sufficiently saturated.

To eliminate the excesses, which result from the large amount of washing water now falling in multiple relationships, the removal is intended according to the invention
