Description
<Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Device for starting synchronous motors.
It is already known to aim for a gradual start-up of the rotor of induction motors without a high starting current intensity by avoiding starting devices by pushing different armatures into the stator of the motors one after the other. It is also no longer new to start synchronous motors as induction motors. In contrast, the essence of the present invention is that the magnet wheel of the synchronous motor is arranged behind a sheet metal armature and a short-circuit armature and is pushed into the stator when the short-circuit armature has reached the required speed.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawing.
The stator of the motor is labeled a. b represents a winding-free sheet metal armature, g is a short-circuit armature and e is the magnet wheel of the motor. The rotor constructed in this way can be moved automatically or by hand on the motor shaft by means of a suitable device.
To start the engine, the armature b is brought into the interior of the stator a and the stator current is closed. The strength of the current drawn will roughly correspond to that of the no-load current of the motor.
If you move the rotor in the direction of the arrow, the armature b emerges from the stator a and the short-circuit armature g takes its place. The current strength increases roughly proportionally with the tightening force.
When the motor has reached its highest speed, the magnet wheel e is excited with direct current and the rotor is shifted further until the magnet wheel is completely inside the stator. The motor then continues to run as a synchronous motor.
