The Feldmngnetgruppe is connected to the drive shaft 4 of the drive motor 1 directly or through a gear. It belongs to the compound type. d. H. it has a number of field magnet pairs or poles 5 which, however, are not arranged separately from one another in a circle, as in the usual multipole dynamoelectric machines. in order to act on a single armature rotating in the space enclosed by them, but are arranged in such a way that each pole pair acts on an armature. In Fig. 2 three pairs of poles are shown, thus three armatures 7 are present. The arrangement, considered as a whole, appears like three separate ones

In the arrangement shown in FIG. 1, the exciter dynamo 2 is carried by the vehicle frame and its armature is carried by the shaft 4 through a

Gear moves. The generated current is conducted to terminals which are connected to the windings 13 of the poles 5 by slip rings and brushes. The current intensity thus obtained is regulated by the resistance device 14 (FIG. 1).
The windings of all poles 5 are advantageously connected in series. When the armature 7, which are advantageously provided with short-circuit windings, as in normal induction motors, rotate in the magnetic fields thus formed, each armature generates a rotational force which is influenced by the strength of the magnetic field, the armature and the size of the resistance to the Movement on the part of the driven shaft 12 depends. The torque generated is the cause
that each drive wheel 10 forms a driving clutch with the main wheel 11 and therefore transmits power from the drive motor to the load. By changing the strength of the magnetic fields, the rotational force is changed and therefore the force transmitted from each drive wheel 10 to the common main wheel 11 and thereby to the shaft 12 can be quickly regulated. Likewise, if the strength of the magnetic fields is kept constant, any change in the load, as is often the case with motorized road vehicles

Another embodiment of the device is illustrated in Figs. 5-7. FIG. 5 is a section along line D-D in FIG. 7, FIG. 6 is a section along line T? - in FIG. 7 and FIG. 7 itself is a section along line F-F in FIG. 6.
In this embodiment, the shaft 7'2 is driven by the armatures 7 instead of by spur gears 10 and 11 through bevel gears 15 and 16; Each armature axis 8 carries a bevel gear 15, which engages in the common bevel gear 16 located at the end of the shaft 12. In this case, the armature axles are arranged at right angles to the shaft 4 and their ends are supported in bearings 17. which are attached to the carrier 6 '.
In both arrangements, the space between the panes 6 is enclosed by a housing 18. The clutch and speed change device will therefore have the appearance of a flywheel which it forms in practice.
Instead of controlling the windings 13 of the poles with a resistor and connecting them in a permanent series connection, they are also wound in sections and their ends can be connected to slip rings on the shaft 4. on which brushes rest connected to a switch. the grouping of the sections (row
