 Vorwärmer fortgedreht, der Brennstoff und die Luft werden abgesperrt und es erfolgt nunmehr die Beschickung mit Bruch und Roheisen, wobei der Bruch vorzugsweise nach hinten gepackt wird. Die Birne wird dann wieder, wie vorher, mit der Öffnung gegen den Vorwärmer eingestellt. 



  Der Luftstrom und der   zutritt werden   eingestellt und entsprechend reguliert. Die Charge kommt dann etwa in einer Stunde zum Schmelzen. Wenn man sich versichert hat, dass der Schmelzprozess vollendet und die Charge fertig zum Erblassen ist, wird die Birne senkrecht eingestellt, der   01-   zutritt abgesperrt und der volle heisse Luftstrom angedreht. Kalte Luft geht hierbei durch die   ölröhre,   um sie kühl zu erhalten. Nunmehr geht der gewöhnliche Prozess der Konvertierung vor sich, währenddessen die abgehende Hitze ins Freie gehen kann, so dass der Vorwärmer nicht unnötig verletzt wird. Dann dreht man die Birne nach unten und lässt den geschmolzenen Inhalt in zurechtgestellte Behälter (Giesspfannen) auslaufen.
