Rolling mill for the longitudinal rolling of pipes by means of pairs of rolls arranged one behind the other.
In the rolling mills for rolling tubes over rotating mandrels, in which several pairs of rolls enclosing an oval-shaped profile are arranged one behind the other, the pulling of the mandrel from the finish-rolled tube has so far mostly been effected in a special operation by means of a device arranged behind the rolling mill.
The subject of the invention is a device by virtue of which the mandrel is pulled out while the material is still running through the rollers, in such a way that pulling out the mandrel is started when the rear end of the tube has left the first stretching roller pairs and between the last equalizing roller pairs arrives, which exert a less strong squeezing pressure on the same than the first roller pairs and between which the mandrel is therefore less firmly clamped, and that the pulling out of the mandrel at about the same time as the finished rolled tube reaches the last roller pair leaves, or ends a little later.
This significantly shortens the time required for the manufacture of the pipe, so that the pipe can still reach the draw bench in a sufficiently strongly heated state, in which the oval cross-sectional shape is converted into the precisely circular one; in addition, space and, since the device can easily be made so that the device works automatically, operation is saved.
The new device is essentially characterized in that the rear end of the mandrel is attached to a carriage which can be driven on rails in the direction of the movement of the rolling stock and which, at the appropriate moment, with an articulated chain moving in the opposite direction to the rolling stock at a corresponding speed or the like . is coupled.
The drawing shows, in side and top views, an exemplary embodiment of the new device in the operating state. The mandrel c is just moving, being carried along by the rolling stock, in the direction of the rolling stock, pulling the carriage d, which is movable on rails 8 and whose claw mouth e firmly grips the end of the mandrel, with it. Between the two rails s, an articulated chain g running over two rollers moves constantly in the direction opposite to that of the rolling stock. A lever h with a hook-like end is arranged on the carriage in such a way that it hooks onto one of the pins of the articulated chain when it is turned down.
A stop is attached to a suitable point on the rails s by means of which the lever h is automatically turned down when it is hit, so that the carriage d is coupled to the chain g and the mandrel c is pulled out of the tube.
The coupling of the carriage with the chain should be effected after the rolling stock has left the first two or three rollers. When rolling out longer pipes, is it not possible to pull out the dome completely before the rear end of the rolled one?
Tube has passed the last pair of rollers, a hold or a suitable distance behind the roller device. Be arranged stripping device.
