 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

For the production of artificial silk, solutions of cellulose, nitrocellulose and acetylcellulose have mainly been used in industry. The one made of cellulose
 EMI1.2
on the other hand, is quite insensitive to moisture.

As has now been found, a product can be obtained which is essential
 EMI1.3
Production is much cheaper than acetate silk if a solution of nitrocellulose and AcetylzeHuloso is spun and the thread obtained is denitrated. The product obtained readily absorbs dye and shows remarkable strength even when wet.

A solution of nitrocellulose and acetylcellulose in acetylene tetrachloride-acetone, consisting of 6 parts nitrocellulose and 2 parts acotyl cellulose in 27 parts acetone and 16 parts acetylene tetrachloride, can be used as the spinning liquid.
 EMI1.4
Acotyl cellulose and acetylene tetrachloride cannot dissolve nitrocellulose, a thoroughly homogeneous liquid.

Films can be made in the same way. They behave in exactly the same way as the threads; H. after denitration they take up dye and their appearance cannot be distinguished from the original material. Because of their low flammability, they are ideal as a replacement for celluloid film in photography and the like. like

If solutions with an increasing content of acetyl cellulose are used, a product is obtained which has so considerably reduced flammability that denitration of the same can be omitted.
