Ring gears b2 act against the gears d and press the pawls p against the ratchet teeth n of the brake disc, which is prevented from rotating by the brake.
The brake can also be used without a locking mechanism, in which case, according to FIG. 4, the brake disc is firmly wedged on shaft e and the brake must be kept released when lowering the bucket until the flap is in the closed position. This can be achieved either by continuously pulling the brake cable or by using special devices that hold the brake lever in the released position and trigger it again in good time.
According to FIG. 4, the pull rope is wound around the roller n2, which carries a ratchet tooth n1 (or several such) on the circumference. A pawl q designed as a double-armed lever rests on the circumference of the roller n2, the rear arm of which carries a pin which is guided in the slot of the rod r articulated on the flap bracket b1. The role n2 is connected to the braking love, k by a part m1. During the digging the flap b is closed by the braked weight l

is moored. This causes the roller n2 to rotate and pulls the braking weight i by means of the connecting rope rnl! upwards.
It is now up to you to lift the braked weight as high as is necessary to slowly open the flap. Is the flap fully open. pull the rope m again with a strong jerk and bring the braked weight to the highest position. The brake band is now fully lifted. The braked weight remains in this highest position because the ratchet M has been caught by the pawl q and the roll n2 is prevented from running back. So you can now let go of the rope m, the brake remains released. The spoon is then lowered to make a new cut. The spoon flap b turns onto the spoon a.
Shortly before the flap closes, the rod r comes into effect in such a way that it with the upper end of its slot against the on the locking

The weight applies the brake, the rope m1 bringing the tooth} 11 back into the position shown in FIG. When the weight l is lowered, the pull rope m winds up again on the roller n2 as it rotates. The condition that existed when digging is restored. When the flap is opened, the rod r, since it is provided with a long slot, moves upwards without exerting any effect on the ratchet.
