Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

The invention relates to a seat-reclining furniture, with a furniture frame on which a back cushion is pivotally mounted about a pivot axis provided on the upper side of the frame, and with a carriage which can be extended from the furniture frame and on which a pivotably mounted seat cushion rests and in which if necessary, a fold-out foot part is housed.

Such furniture is known, inter alia, from AT 002 832 U1, and the possibility of accommodating a fold-out foot part in the car can be found, for example, in AT 405 480 B.

The known seat-reclining furniture has the disadvantage that the pivot axis of the back cushion is attached to the wall-side (rear) upper edge of the furniture frame, so that this has to be moved somewhat away from the wall when it is converted into reclining furniture in order to pivot to allow the back cushion from the upright reclining to the horizontal lying position. In the lying position, there is in any case a gap between the wall-side end face of the back cushion and the wall, unless the furniture is moved back to the wall.

The aim of the invention is a seat-reclining furniture in which the back cushion can be pivoted from the upright leaning position into the horizontal lying position without moving the furniture.

This object is achieved according to the invention with a seat-reclining piece of furniture of the type mentioned at the beginning by arranging the pivot axis of the back cushion at a distance from the wall-side end of the furniture frame, that the back cushion on its underside has a support core with a spacing the shoulder adapted to the pivot axis and that the wall-side end region of the back cushion is curved along the jacket of a cylinder, the axis of which coincides with the pivot axis.

The interaction of the three features, namely offset pivot axis, offset support core and cylinder jacket curvature of the back cushion in the end area, ensures that the (end lying) wall end of the back cushion does not protrude to the rear during the pivoting process and that the cushion height reduction due to a relatively large cylinder radius enables due to the offset support core - is hardly noticeable (if the swivel axis were at the rear upper end of the furniture frame as in the prior art, the back cushion would have to be curved along a quarter of the cylinder jacket).

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of an exemplary embodiment shown in a schematic side view. 1 shows the seat-reclining furniture according to the invention in the sitting position, FIG. 2 this furniture during the conversion phase into a reclining furniture and FIG. 3 this furniture in the reclining position.

The seat-reclining furniture 1 according to the invention has a furniture frame 2 on which a back cushion 3 is pivotally mounted about a pivot axis 4 provided on the upper side of the frame.

A carriage 5 can be moved out of the furniture frame 2, on which a pivotally mounted seat cushion 6 rests and in which a fold-out foot part 7 is accommodated. The pivot axis 4 of the back cushion 3 is arranged at a distance a (FIG. 2) from the wall-side end of the furniture frame 2. The back cushion 3 has on its underside a support core 8 which is provided with a shoulder 9 adapted to the distance a from the pivot axis 4. The wall-side end region 10 of the back cushion 3 is curved along the jacket of a cylinder, the cylinder axis coinciding with the pivot axis 4.

If the seat-reclining furniture 1 is converted from the sitting position shown in FIG. 1 into a reclining furniture, as can be seen successively from FIGS. 2 and 3, the carriage 5 must first be moved out of the furniture frame 2, then the seat cushion 6 to fold up, to fold the foot part 7 out of the carriage 5, to fold the seat cushion 6 back into the horizontal position and finally to fold down the back cushion 3 from the vertical position into the horizontal position.

Due to the construction according to the invention, the end region 10 of the back cushion 3 does not swing out over the original distance from the wall (not shown), so that the furniture frame 2 does not have to be moved.

Since, according to the invention, the seat-reclining furniture 1 does not have to be moved back and forth in the course of the conversion, the floor covering of the apartment is largely spared, especially since any scratching and the like is eliminated.
