Potato harvester with side grid and centrifugal disc.
With the potato harvester known from German patent specification No. 88983. Slingshot disc and coulter with side grille shows on dry, slightly sieved ground, the disadvantage that when the draft animals move jerkily, potatoes sometimes fall through the rods of the slinger instead of being deposited sideways by the disc.
In order to remedy this inconvenience, the new coulter equipment has a bar grate arranged directly behind the share under the centrifugal disk and parallel to it, the bars of which lie in the direction of rotation of the centrifugal disk, so that the potatoes that have fallen through between the bars of the latter also slide against the grate bars Side rails are driven.
Fig. 1 shows a plan view of the relevant parts of the machine and Fig. 2 shows a side view of the same.
The centrifugal disk a is mounted in a known manner on a drive shaft b which is slightly inclined towards the front and which is driven by the bicycle axle through an intermediate gear. In a known manner, the disc is provided with simple rods in order to be able to break through the plowed up soil as easily as possible.
On the side lying apart from the coulter handle d, on which the lateral depositing grate e is attached to the coulter and towards which the potatoes are deposited when the centrifugal disc a is turned in the direction of the arrow (Fig. 1), there is the scratching edge 01 (Fig. 2 ) bent up so high that no potatoes can fall over it, but the potato tops can easily slide over this edge cl. However, this is not the subject of the present invention.
Immediately behind the coulter c, under the centrifugal disk a and parallel to it, the bar grate f is arranged to prevent the potatoes from falling between the bars of the centrifugal disk a to the ground. and be covered. When the potatoes cross over from the coulter to this rod grate f, they are caught by the rods of the centrifugal disk that sweep over them and are also driven sliding on the rods of the grate against the side grille e. So that this sliding can take place, the bars of the grate f are arranged in the direction of rotation of the centrifugal disk and not in the direction of travel of the machine.
For the machine to work properly it is absolutely necessary that all the potatoes are driven by the centrifugal disk against the side rail, so that they can be freed from the earth, at the end of the side rail e can be deposited sideways from the centrifugal disk after the earth through the rods of the Slinger and the side rail has been sieved off. If the bars of the grate were arranged in the direction of travel, the potatoes would not be able to slide on them and the operation of the machine would be difficult. Individual potatoes would also be driven to the ground through the bars of the lower grate.
