Abstract

The invention relates to a process for coating corrosion-endangered regions, such as cavities and gaps, of a finned heat exchanger with a thermally and chemically resistant resin, as well as a process for producing a heat exchanger suitable for the coating. In order reliably to prevent corrosion and, possibly, the enrichment of the condensate with corrosively detached particles, it is provided that the cavities (5) and gaps (4) in the region between the fins (1, 1%, 1_) or between the fins (1, 1%, 1_) and the heat exchanger tubes (3, 3%) are filled with the resin in accordance with a vacuum impregnation process known per se, the following process steps being provided: - evacuation of the heat exchanger in an autoclave, - application of the resin to the heat exchanger, - pressing of the resin into the cavities and gaps by means of atmospheric pressure or overpressure, - rinsing or washing-out of the resin not pressed in, - polymerisation of the resin in a water bath at a temperature of approx. 90 DEG C. <IMAGE>
