Method and device for the production of the nib holder part for fountain pens and nib handles.

holding parts for fountain pens and nib handles.
The method consists in that the annular groove in the made of a plastic mass, for. B.
Celluloid or the like. Existing and the outer shape of the spring holding part correspondingly designed work piece is pressed.
In the drawing, the device used to carry out the method and its mode of operation is shown, namely Fig. 1 shows the device in longitudinal section with the ram raised, while Fig. 2 shows the same in the same representation with the ram lowered and penetrated into the workpiece. Fig. 3 is a plan view of the lower part of the press, while Figs. 4 and 5 show the finished work piece in longitudinal and cross-section.
As can be seen from the drawing, the mold used to receive the workpiece consists of a base plate provided with a mandrel 1 on which a hollow cylindrical one

speaking of the narrow groove to be produced is kept very thin. The mold is, as can be seen from Fig. 3, flattened on both sides to bezw on a slide. to be able to move from the workplace.
The pre-product to be processed, which already has the outer shape of the spring retainer, is made of a plastic mass, e.g. B. made of celluloid or the like. It is provided with a central bore 7 (Fig. 4 and 5), which in fountain pen handles for the inflow of

was heated accordingly, placed on the mandrel 1 and then pushed the hollow cylinder 3 over the same. When the punch 6 is depressed, which finds a guide on the re-entrant edge 5 of the cylinder, the thin-walled cylinder penetrates the soft mass of the work piece and pushes it to the side. If the mass is now allowed to cool down before the work piece is removed from the device, it receives a permanent narrow annular groove 8 (FIGS. 4 and 5).
Thus, when the punch is pressed into the workpiece, the inside of the hollow cylinder 6

the shaft of the punch is provided with an air channel 9 (Fig. 1) which connects the cavity of the cylinder with the outside air and through which the air can escape from the cavity.
