AT 394 299 B The invention relates to a device for weed and pest control in agriculture and forestry by covering areas with tree bark, consisting of a plaque pressed from ground and bound bark. From US-PS 3 870 583 and from US-PS 4 062 145 it is known to produce cover plates for agriculture and forestry, so-called mulch plates, in that crushed bark is pressed into plates, the binding being made by means of an artificial resin he follows. From GB-PS 2 170 795 a cover plate is known which contains bark as one of a plurality of components. From FR-PS 2 590 763 a cover plate is also known which is made from cellulose fibers and from a mineral aggregate material. However, these known cover plates are not in accordance with the requirements, since for their manufacture several starting materials have to be crushed, mixed together and bound, which considerably increases the effort in the manufacture of such plates and because the addition of artificial substances, in particular adhesives, these get into the cycle of nature through the rotting of the cover plates. Thus, the object of the invention is to provide a cover plate made of bark, which is made of natural material and which can be produced in a simple manner. This is achieved according to the invention in that the binding of the ground bark by means of natural, in particular by the in the bark Resins contained is thus no artificial binder is added in the manufacture of this cover plate, which means that only natural substances enter the cycle of nature. Furthermore, the plate is preferably mixed with a moisture-storing substance. According to a preferred embodiment, the plate has a thickness of 0.5 cm to 2 cm, in particular a thickness of approximately 0.7 cm. The particular advantage of such plates lies in their simple handling, since they can be delivered in stacks and because the soil in the vicinity of a large number of plants can be covered without any special effort. Preferably summer bark is used for the production of the boards, the shark content of which promotes setting. What is essential is the herbicidal action of the boards made from tree bark, by means of which the plant space can be kept free from weeds and thus from root competition. As a result, the use of herbicides can be dispensed with in afforestation. Since such crop protection is thus fully biological, no chemical loads are caused. Sofeme the plates are additionally mixed with moisture-storing substances, such as water-storing jellies, which are sold under the brand name Wasserkom, further special effects can be achieved. On the one hand, the herbicidal action of the plates is maintained longer. On the other hand, the drying out of the soil beneath the slabs is delayed. Furthermore, these plates represent a bait for weevils, which is a pest that damages fresh forest plates by bark and possibly destroys them. PATENT CLAIMS 1. Device for weed and pest control in agriculture and forestry by covering areas with tree bark, consisting of from a plate pressed from ground and bound bark, characterized in that the binding of the ground bark is effected by natural, in particular by the resins contained in the bark. 2.
