Play animal with a movable head.
EMI1.1
the animals with swinging copies, in which the head is provided with a long neck which, balanced by a counterweight, swings up and down around a horizontal axis when the head is hit. There are also games in which the head is attached to one side, either below or to the side, and is held in its normal position by a spring balancer. If the head is pressed downwards or to the side by a pressure, it will then always be returned to its base by the spring balancer. Usually the heads are then connected to a sound instrument that imitates the animal's voice. The last-mentioned play animals also have devices that close the opening between the head and the torso.
These means, however, only have the purpose of giving the toy animal a better appearance, and furthermore of making access to the mechanism more difficult, so that the children are not induced to destroy the mechanism. Finally, game figures have become known in which the head with its neck and the trunk with flat surfaces butt against each other and are united by a peg in the middle. The head of these play animals can be rotated around the central axis. It does not need to be particularly emphasized that such a head turn does not correspond to reality. The new arrangement thus aims, and therein lies the invention, a connection between

possible.
The movement of a living animal consists mainly of two movements, one from bending the head from top to bottom, or vice versa, or
EMI1.3
The actual connection of the head with the rump is made by the hose that forms the neck of the animal. The head now requires a bracing against the trunk, which is such that the hose is stretched to a certain extent without the movement of the head being hindered.
In Fig. 3, a rich connection is shown.

then its movement is limited by the tension of the lower tube part a, while the upper part is folding. The same thing happens when the head is moved to the right or to the left (Fig. 2). It is. also possible to turn the head on the rod, and here too the length of the expansion member f and the tension of the hose a determine the limits of the rotational movement.
In a simpler way, the connection can take place in that a rod b is mounted as a rotation axis in a suitable manner within the fuselage. When it emerges from the fuselage, the outer end c is bent at an obtuse angle. The bent end c must be so long that the head can find support on it and at the same time can still move and turn a little on it; d. H. the rod b is not immovably connected to the head, it serves, as described above, to determine the distance between the head and the torso and at the same time to allow an independent movement of the head on the rod end.
In this case it is necessary to prevent the axis of rotation from shifting backwards. This can be brought about in a known manner by means of an attached plate and an abutment mounted inside the fuselage. When the head touches the torso (FIG. 1), the axis of rotation b is relieved of the axial thrust and this is transmitted to the contact surfaces d and e. The contact surfaces d and e are advantageously designed like a dome, so that they only touch one another at one point. Here, all points of contact lie on a circle, which has its center in the axis b. The bent end then acts as a link to the head during movement.
If you turn the axis either by touching the head or by letting the axis of rotation emerge from the back of the torso and attach a crank to it, the head with the crank-shaped end moves on the mantle of a cone, which has its tip in the Has vertex of obtuse angle. As a result, the hose a is always stretched on the side which is opposite the position of the handlebar c. The head will therefore never move in a straight line, but always move on a circular line. This is the basis of the natural movement of the head, which has been achieved in the interaction of the neck tube o with the handlebar c.
Of course, by turning the head on the crank-shaped end, it can be given a position through which the appearance of the toy animal in its various positions almost corresponds to the natural posture of a living animal.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Toy animal with movable head, characterized in that the head is connected to the torso by a tube representing the neck and is moved by a handlebar of any arrangement rotatably mounted in the torso and to which the head is rotatably and displaceably connected, so as far as the tensions in the neck tube allow.
