Die setting and line casting machine with die rods guided on wires.
In the case of the die setting and line casting machines with die rods (Typograph) guided on wires, the matrices set in a row are deposited by folding down the die basket. The matrices then slide back on the guide wires due to their own weight, get behind the locking pawls raised by lifting the basket and are held by them when the basket is folded back. It happens, especially when the basket is folded up and down very quickly, that some of the dies do not reach the escapement pawls and therefore slide back to the setting point when the basket is folded down Basket damaged.
According to the invention, sliding back of the die rods to the setting point should now be prevented.
In the drawing, a device that enables this is shown graphically in two exemplary embodiments. Fig. 1 shows a side view of the first embodiment and

is, and below an elongated guide slot 16, in which the rail 8 engages.
This arrangement allows the weight to easily follow the turns of the wires.
The weight 9 is connected to the weights 10 by a chain, cord 7 or the like. This cord engages the weight 9 at point 13 and the weights 10 at point. A number of drivers 15 corresponding to the number of guide wires 3 sit on the cord (see also FIG. 2). These drivers are small steel blocks which are pierced at two points at right angles to each other. The cord 12 goes through one of these bores and each driver runs on a die guide wire with the other bore. The drivers are therefore freely displaceable on the cord 12.
When the machine is in the idle state, the weights of the inclined position of the rails 6, 7, 8 have slid forward accordingly and have also taken all of the drivers with them forward. These lie directly against the front frame 4 of the basket A so that the released die rods can slide down the guide wires unhindered.
If the basket is tilted backwards around axis 1 for the purpose of depositing the die bars,

pawls slide past. The special shape of the groove 24 means that the levers 28 are not moved during the first and last part of the folding down of the basket, so there is initially time for the dies to slide back on the guide wires, and only when this has happened , the levers are folded down.
