Carbon oxide) for a long time and in a rapid stream over the raw material before you start heating. The shape of the muffle in which the annealing takes place and the layering of the material must be chosen so that no mechanical obstacles to the removal of the air arise or remain. When using such gases, it is also expedient to first pump out in order to use the eddies and pressure differences that then arise when the gas is let in to fill all corners and pores.
The water used for quenching can be boiled. An indifferent gas can also be introduced during quenching.
In place of the muffles, tubular devices can also be used for uninterrupted operation, which are heated from the outside, while inside the mixture is slowly moved forward by means of gravity or by means of mechanical transport devices.
The apparatus is provided with means for the supply of said oxygen-free (i.e. not containing free oxygen) gases and a mouthpiece with a water seal keeps the air away from the heated mass when it is introduced into the water for the purpose of quenching.
EMI2.1
The quenching process is carried out in the absence of free oxygen.
