<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

The invention relates to a pipe connection, in particular pipe coupling for connecting the
Ends of pipes which are loaded with outside and possibly also inside pressure, in particular laid in the ground, preferably fiber cement or. Asbestos cement pipes, plastic pipes or the like. Which pipe connection consists of a ring-shaped, optionally fiber-reinforced one-part or multi-part plastic part which is applied to the pipe ends to be connected, preferably arranged at a distance from one another, which extends over the pipe ends to be connected and at least comprises a one-piece compensation section, preferably molded from the plastic part, to compensate for the stresses that occur, and is firmly connected to the pipes.
The invention further relates to a method for producing this pipe connection.
The longitudinal forces that occur in pipelines can be compensated for differently depending on the pipe material used and transmitted into the subsurface. For pipe materials made of cement-bound materials (asbestos cement, concrete), plastic, stoneware and cast iron, rubber-sealed connecting elements between the individual pipe sections are common. In these, the z. B. due to temperature change, moisture change or earth movements occurring longitudinal forces are reduced. if the pipe ends can move axially freely in the connection points.
With steel and partly plastic pipes, it is common to weld the joints of the individual pipe sections. In these cases, the longitudinal forces at buried
Lines are removed via the jacket friction between the pipe wall and the surrounding soil.
In the case of freely laid lines, the longitudinal forces must be absorbed using compensation structures.
Different shear forces along the pipe axis can also be absorbed in pipes made from individual sections with rubber-sealed connections.
With endless piping z. B, from welded individual shots, these forces must be absorbed by the pipe material or reduced by harmless deformation of the same.
Because of the simplicity of the pipe laying and the advantageous derivation of the longitudinal and transverse forces that occur, the use of rubber-sealed individual pipes has largely become established. The rubber seals are z. B. dimensioned and designed for sewer pipes, ventilation pipes, drinking water pipes, gas pipes. The selection of suitable rubber materials also depends on the intended use and the media to be transported.
In some cases, especially when draining aggressive media and gases, it is difficult to predict the media to be transported and select the appropriate rubber quality over the service life of the pipeline. This is particularly true, for example, for the discharge of waste water from the oil refinery, which is produced both in different compositions and at high temperatures. In addition, the use of the conventional gravity system in these channels can lead to the formation of ignitable gas mixtures, which have already led to deflagrations in various ways and thus represent a risk of accidents.
It was therefore made for these and similar applications that the sewer networks, consisting of pipes and manholes, be stowed at a distance of 30 to approximately 100 m in order to prevent the possibility of gas development in the sewer system. The pipelines between the shafts should be provided with non-detachable connections because of the difficult selection of the suitable rubber material described above. Now z. B. Pipes and manholes made of stainless steel or glass fiber reinforced plastic. In the first case, the pipe joints should be welded, in the second, they should be connected in a non-detachable manner by overlaminating or glued sockets.
In both cases, the longitudinal forces that occur have to be absorbed, in particular, by temperature changes in the duct shafts adjoining the pipe section. H. that they have to be designed in such a way that they can absorb the changes in length of the channel section that occur due to deformation. Differences in settlement in the pipe material or in the connection area between the shaft and pipe must also be absorbed. The disadvantage of these solutions is that the forces that occur cannot be predicted, nor can they be safely absorbed by pipes and shafts in the long term.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
It is generally known to accommodate longitudinal and transverse movements of pipes by means of compensators. These expansion joints are mostly made of thin-walled stainless steel and are connected to the pipes by welding or flange connections. However, these compensators are not suitable for absorbing external pressures. When laying in the ground, they require the presence of a corresponding, e.g. B. concreted or bricked, cavity, otherwise the material would fill the troughs of the compensator and would hinder its function. In addition, such compensators must always be prefabricated and kept in certain sizes.
From US Pat. No. 4, 076, 283 a pipe connection of the type mentioned above made of plastic for concrete pipes is known, which has a loop-shaped section for absorbing longitudinal movements of the pipes. As permitted in U.S. Patent No. 4,076,283 itself, this permits
Section only balancing limited movements. With the pipe connection after the
No. 4, 076, 283, moreover, no ring is arranged within the compensation section, which could ensure that the pipe ends can move with respect to one another. In addition, in the case of the pipe connection according to US Pat. No. 4, 076, 283, the elastic band is connected to the pipes by means of anchor bolts, the pipe wall being weakened.
The object of the invention is to avoid these disadvantages and to create a pipe connection which corresponds to the initial requirement for insolubility and nevertheless allows the external pressure, eg. B. earth pressure, and occurring longitudinal and transverse forces.
The pipe connection should also be suitable for laying in the ground and for adapting to any pipe diameter and pressure.
This is achieved according to the invention in the case of a pipe connection of the type mentioned in the introduction, that at least one made of an elastic material, eg an elastic material, for example in the form of an annular bead with, for example, a wavy, trapezoidal or triangular cross section. B. rubber, elastic plastic, foam, cork or the like. Existing ring known per se, preferably with a circular, corrugated or trapezoidal cross-section, is arranged, the compensation section of the pipe connection surrounding this ring at least partially positively, and the pipe connection with the Pipes in particular laminated or glued.
This training ensures the desired mobility of the pipe ends. The ring bead can deform like a compensator and absorb longitudinal and lateral forces in this way. Laminating or gluing also avoids weakening the pipe.
The pipe connection according to the invention is suitable for absorbing external pressures and the longitudinal and transverse forces that occur, can also be laid in the ground without special precautions, and has no sealing element made of rubber or plastic that could be destroyed by aggressive media. The compensation section can be prefabricated and applied at the installation site itself, wherein the thickness and elasticity of the compensation section can be optimally adapted to the stresses that occur.
The arrangement of a ring is known per se from AT-PS No. 329935. In this known pipe coupling, however, there is no compensation section. The stop ring mentioned in AT-PS No. 329935 is only used to keep the pipes apart and center them.
In an embodiment of the invention it is provided that the ring is designed as a spacer for the ends of the pipes to be connected, and at least one one-part or multi-part projection, preferably a one or more parts, which projects radially inwards and can be inserted between the ends of the pipes to be connected. encircling ledge or web.
In order to ensure the required elasticity or mobility of the pipe connection, it is advantageous if the elasticity modulus of the pipe connection is 3000 to 73000 Nimf ", in particular 40000 N / mm 2. The lower area essentially applies to pure resin, the upper area for a high fiber content.

Glass fibers are reinforced. The fibers can be used as nonwoven, mat, fabric, etc. The ring consisting of elastomers advantageously has a hardness of 50 to 65 Shore.
When producing the pipe connection, the axial distance between the end faces of the pipe ends is usually 5 to 7 mm for pipe sections with a length of 5 m. The elastic ring can be applied to the joint with pre-tension.
If a prefabricated pipe coupling is used, a connecting element, which likewise has one or more ring beads, is produced on its inner molds.
These ridges can be created by protrusions of the inner shape or created by elements drawn onto them. At the construction site, this sleeve is pushed over the two pipe ends and glued to them in a suitable manner. To simplify assembly, the insert parts of this sleeve can be conical in order to make it easier to insert the pipe ends. The gap between the sleeve and the outer surface of the pipe must be filled with a suitable adhesive.
In order to ensure the spacer rings of the pipe ends when using this prefabricated coupling sleeve, elements can be z. B. be inserted from rubber.
These elements can be circumferential or consist of several individual pieces.
In this way, the pipe ends to be connected are safely distanced during assembly. so that later elongation is possible.
For the structural design, it is advantageous if the ratio of the wall thickness S 2 of the pipe connection or the compensation section thereof to the wall thickness S of the pipes is 1: 2.5 to 1:35, in particular 1: 6. In the case of a compensation section with an approximately circular arc-shaped cross section, the ratio of the diameter D of the compensation section to the outside
EMI5.2
: D are entered in Fig. 1.
The pipe coupling can also be formed from a laminate. Laminate is understood here to mean a laminate or composite material consisting of two or more layers or layers of synthetic resin film and fibers, which has a certain elasticity.
The advantages of the pipe connection according to the invention are in particular that it is insoluble, does not require any sealing elements made of rubber, etc., and that it is flexible. The longitudinal movements are compensated for within the couplings. The longitudinal movements are compensated as they arise, i. H. distributed over the entire pipe string. No fixed points and therefore no expensive compensators of conventional design are required. The line can also be installed in soils that are susceptible to settlement without special measures.
