happens, in the case of the illustrated embodiment, the gas burner 13 is held below the "shape, so that the latter remains hot during this time.
As soon as the sound diagram on the mold surface has been mapped, the handle 16 is rotated so that the water nozzles 14 get under the mold and the tap 20 is opened so that jets of water are sprayed against the mold and the mold and its contents cool down quickly.
The mold also continues to rotate while cooling begins. When the filling of the mold has hardened as a result of cooling, the handle is rotated so that the drive roller 5 is positioned at an angle to the axis of the mold. As a result, the mold is pushed down from the support rollers 3, so that the space for placing a new roller is free and the operation can be repeated.
A suitable material for carrying out the method according to the present invention consists in the material currently used for the production of phonogram cylinders, which is converted into a powdery or granular state by breaking or grinding. However, other fusible material can also be used, such as e.g. B. asphalt, shellac mixtures or mixtures of a similar nature.
The above process makes it possible to manufacture very perfect phonograph rollers using materials which are so sticky and viscous in the molten state that they could not be formed at all by the methods conventionally used up to now, or which have such a high melting point as the It would not be advisable to use the usual procedures.
