The invention relates to feedstuffs containing 1,2,4-benzotriazine-1,4-di-N-oxide derivatives with growth-promoting activity in domestic animals and farm animals.
The new 1,2,4-benzotriazine-1,4-di-N-oxide derivatives correspond to the general formula
EMI1.1
in which X and Y are independently hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, phenoxy, substituted phenoxy, or halogen and R., R. and R3 are each independently hydrogen or alkyl.
The alkyl or alkoxy groups representing X and Y preferably have 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
Particularly suitable substituents in the corresponding phenoxy groups are lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen, lower alkyl groups being understood to mean those having 1 to 4 carbon atoms.
The alkyl groups occurring in the meanings of Rt, R2 and Rg are to be understood as meaning those having 1 to 12, preferably 1 to 6, carbon atoms.

to achieve. To achieve this, it is proposed according to the invention to use the compounds of the formula (I) as active ingredients in feed for farm animals because of their good growth-promoting properties.
The active ingredients of the formula (I) are added to the feed or the drinking troughs for the aforementioned animals in amounts of 1 to 500 ppm based on the total feed or drinking troughs, either directly or in the form of a premix.
Suitable premixes consist e.g. B. from a mixture of the active ingredient with kaolin, lime, aluminum oxide, ground mussel shells, Bolus alba, Aerosil, starch or lactose. To make a

Other substances that favorably influence the growth and development of the animals can be added to the feed mixture. Such additives are in particular vitamins, mineral salts, antibiotics, nitrofurans, diaminopyrimidines, hydroxyquinolines, hydroxyquinoline carboxylic acids, quinoxaline di-N-oxides, etc.

These feed premixes are mixed with 5800 parts by weight of standard feed or processed into 6000 parts by weight of ready-to-use drinkers. In addition, these feed premixes can be pelleted into 6000 parts by weight of final feed.

The above-mentioned feed mixtures show a significant growth-increasing effect on farm animals compared to the control animals, which are fed with the correspondingly identical feed mixes and forms without active substance.
Evidence of increased growth in chickens
To test the individual compounds, concentrations of 20 and 100 ppm per substance were used and 80 animals in 8 groups of 8 animals each, 4 groups and 2, were used for each substance concentration. At the beginning of the experiment, their age was 1 day. During the 28 day experiment, the animals were kept in batteries. Normal standard feed with an addition of active substance was administered to the test animals as feed, while the control animals received the same feed without this addition. The test substances used were well tolerated by the test animals.
The results are summarized in the following overview table, whereby the data represent statistically secured mean values of the total scope of the results of all groups of the individual tests.
