Removable propeller device for watercraft.
The subject matter of the present invention is a propeller device which can easily be attached to and removed from watercraft, preferably boats and barges, as required. A particular advantage of the device is that when it is attached, drilling through the ship's wall for the purpose of passing through the propeller shaft is completely avoided.
In the drawing, the subject of the invention is attached to a boat, for example shown in longitudinal section.
The propeller device consists of a framework in the shape of an inverted U, which is placed on the rear wall of the watercraft in such a way that one leg of the U-shaped framework is immersed in the water, but the other leg inside the boat up to close or completely to it Soil is enough. A propeller 2 is mounted on the part of the frame that is immersed in the water, the shaft of which is supported by a rope, belt or chain drive 3 with a shaft 4 mounted in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle in the upper frame part resting on the edge of the ship's wall is connected. At the inner end, this shaft is connected by a further cable, belt or chain drive 5 to a shaft 6 mounted in the inner leg of the frame.
On this shaft sits a flywheel with a hand crank 7, while the same is also provided with a cranked crank 8 which is connected by a crank rod 9 to a footboard 10 located below the same.
The propeller can therefore be set in motion by hand or foot as desired. However, a motor can also be provided which supports manual or foot operation or which sets the propeller in motion completely independently. If necessary, it could also be driven by a wind turbine. The control, which is located directly on the rear wall of the vehicle before the device is attached, must be removed and can then be attached directly to the rear of the frame, for which purpose the hooks or eyes must be placed in the appropriate places.
This device should be of particular advantage for barges which travel with the current talah, since it enables the travel speed to be increased considerably without any particular costs. In such cases, a propeller device can be attached to both the rear and the front end of the watercraft.
