  Klosettsitz.

  Toilet seat.

It is already known to manufacture toilet seats from a plastic mass by pressing them in a mold, but these seats have the disadvantage that they do not have the necessary strength and are therefore easy to break. This disadvantage is avoided in the subject matter of the present invention in that the toilet seat is pressed from a cork-like mass (the so-called suberite) which has sufficient strength.

The drawing shows in Fig. 1 the toilet seat in elevation, in Fig. 2 in partial section.
In a shape corresponding to the various designs of the toilet seats, the so-called suberite, i.e. i. made of crushed cork filled with gun cotton dissolved by alcohol or ether, to which castor oil can also be added, existing cork mass is filled and pressed through a die under high pressure. The shape can be perforated at various points to allow moisture to escape easily. Now that a seat is made in this way and dry, its exterior is painted several times with a lacquer paint and then polished.

Such a toilet seat has the appearance of a finely polished wood, but has the advantages that it is light, i.e. cannot damage the basin by falling over, and that it cannot warp and fall apart.
