Kabelbleimantel für Seekabel.
Die vorliegende Erfindung gewährt ein Mittel, dem Kabelbleimantel eine erhöhte Festigkeit gegen äusseren Druck zu verleihen und Seekabel, welche mit einem der Erfindung entsprechenden Bleimantel versehen sind, hiedurch zur Verwendung in grösseren Wassertiefen geeignet zu machen. Diese Verbesserung ist besonders wichtig für solche Kabel, welche Luft als Isolationsmittel enthalten, da hier die Kabelseele zusammendrückbar ist und daher bei der bisherigen Ausführung der äussere Druck allein von dem weichen HIoimanteI aufgenommen werden musste.
Dieser Umstand machte es bisher unmöglich, Kabel mit Papier- und Luftisolation oder andere Luft enthaltende Kabel für die submarine Telegraphie und Telephonie zu verwenden, obwohl sie gegenüber den Guttaperchakabeln den Vorzug einor geringeren Kapazität und eines niedrigeren Preises besitzen.
Um den Bleimantel mit einer erhöhten Widerstandsfähigkeit gegen äusseren Druck auszustatten, bestand bereits die Möglichkeit, die Kabelseele durch aufgeschobene Ringe zu versteifen und erst über diese den Bleimantel zu legen, doch war dieser Weg für die Praxis nicht, gangbar, da die Herstellung derartiger Kabel viel zu umständlich sein würde.
Nach der vorliegenden Erfindung dagegen wird die Versteifung des Kabelbleimantels durch ein in der Anwendung einfaches und daher p@aktisch brauchbares Mittel erreicht.

The present invention provides a means of giving the lead cable jacket increased strength against external pressure and thereby making submarine cables which are provided with a lead jacket according to the invention suitable for use in greater water depths. This improvement is particularly important for cables that contain air as an insulating medium, since here the cable core can be compressed and therefore in the previous version the external pressure had to be absorbed solely by the soft membrane.
This fact has hitherto made it impossible to use paper and air insulated cables or other cables containing air for submarine telegraphy and telephony, although they have the advantage of lower capacity and lower price over gutta percha cables.
In order to equip the lead sheath with increased resistance to external pressure, it was already possible to stiffen the cable core by sliding rings on it and first place the lead sheath over them, but this method was not feasible in practice, as the manufacture of such cables is a lot would be too cumbersome.
According to the present invention, on the other hand, the stiffening of the lead cable jacket is achieved by a means that is simple to use and therefore p @ actically useful.
