 s X 360 = 0#3595 mm.

 s X 360 = 0 # 3595 mm.

The drum divided into 360 parts gives 1 second. Divided into 10 parts by the vernier gives 0'1 second.

placed almost horizontally and adjusted the sighting telescope to the object to be measured.

Turn the sight of the distance telescope by means of the micrometer screw until the vertical thread hits the object aimed at by the sight telescope. The angle measured in this way is then read off on the micrometer drum. The number of seconds and tenths of a second corresponds to a distance that can be seen immediately from a table attached to this.

A second version of the distance meter is shown in Fig. 6-8 of the drawing. It differs from the former only in that it was designed to match the shape and size of binoculars and is therefore very suitable for foot troops.

The description of the theory and mode of operation of this instrument corresponds completely to the instrument described above.

A very insignificant change takes place in the parallel positioning of the telescopes, the same happens in the following way: A distance of 500 or 1000 tn becomes direct

position adjusted to the object to be measured. Then turn the sight of the distance telescope with the micrometer screw until it intersects the object aimed at by the sighting telescope. If the reading on the drum and the vernier does not show those graduation marks which correspond to the angle of a distance of 500 or 1000 111, the telescope parallel adjusting screw is turned to the right or left, depending on whether the sights converge or diverge, until the reading on the drum corresponds to the measured angle.

   PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Distance meter with two telescopes, characterized by a screw (11) inserted into a support part (t), which also serves as a bearing for the micrometer screw (? R), so that with the help of this screw when the reading drum is in zero position, the Telescopes can be achieved which, as a result of the further remaining of the screw (u) in its position, can always be restored when the instrument is used.
