Schraube

screw
The invention relates to a screw with a head embedded in a plastic cap.
Screws of this type are often used in the construction industry, with their heads sometimes being used
Plastic coated to protect them against corrosion caused by the environment. These well-known
However, fastening elements are disadvantageous insofar as the plastic coatings often slip or break off the metal heads when they are screwed together or shift in such a way that they are theirs
Lose protective effect.
The invention is based on the object of creating a fastening element whose head is designed in such a way that a plastic cap sitting thereon is not displaced or cannot come loose even under the action of great forces when it is screwed in.
This object is achieved according to the invention in that the head has a surface which is inclined towards the shaft and which faces the shaft with an annular groove
Surrounding the annular flange and is provided below the flange with a shoulder, the plastic cap being held between the flange and the shoulder by the annular groove.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, a lip pointing obliquely outward in the shaft direction is provided on the jacket surface under the plastic cap.
The advantages achieved with the invention are in particular that the plastic cap is secured against displacement in all directions by the design of the head of the screw according to the invention and that the design of the plastic cap ensures effective protection against corrosion.
An embodiment of the invention is shown in the drawings and is described in more detail below. They show: FIG. 1 a plan view of a plastic cap and part of the screw; 2 shows a partial side view, in section, of a screw according to the invention, and FIG. 3 shows a side view, partly in section, of a screw according to the invention in the operative position.
The screw according to the invention consists of a threaded shaft --20-- made of metal with a head - and a plastic cap --10-- which encloses it and protects it against environmental influences.
The head-22- has a larger outside diameter than the shaft-20-. The upper surface -30-of the head -22-is grooved in the manner shown in FIG. Grooves-32- of the corrugations form holders for the cap - 10 - on the head - 22-.
The grooved surface -30- is on a cylindrical part-36-, which is located above the main part-40-of the head-22-. The main part --40-- has a larger diameter than the cylindrical part - 36 - and than the shaft - 20--. Further holding means for the cap - 10 - are formed by the main part - 40 - extending and upwardly directed lugs - 44 - which are located along the circumference of the head - 22 -. These approaches primarily form a safeguard for the plastic cap - 10 - against circumferential rotational forces that are exerted by a tool, e.g.
B. a wrench to be exercised when screwing into a workpiece.

EMI2.1
--40-- runs, - and a shoulder --54-- form a relatively deep annular groove -56- in which part of the plastic cap --10-- is held after it has been cast. This creates a further safeguard against undesired displacement, especially lifting of the plastic cap --10--.
The cap --10-- is cast directly onto the metal head --22--. The outer, circumferential surface of a lower shoulder --28 - and a lower surface - 60 - of the shoulder
EMI2.2
The plastic cap - 10 - consists of an attack part --70-- and an outer lip - 72-- extending from it, outward and towards the shaft, which protrudes beyond the head --22 towards the shaft. The attack part -70- is usually designed so that it can be removed from a common tool, e.g. B. a wrench can be edited. As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3
EMI2.3
Plastic in the grooves-32--, covers the lugs-44- and flows into the annular groove-56 between the flange -50-- and the shoulder-54-. The inventive design of the head --22 - therefore the plastic cap --10-- is secured against removal or displacement in all directions.
On the inside of the outer lip -72- a number of beads -82- are formed which are pressed against the surface of a workpiece provided with the screw according to the invention and thereby increase the effectiveness of the seal. The inner lip-76- can also be omitted, so that the outer lip -72- connects directly to the shoulder-54 or to the lower shoulder -28.
The advantages of the fastening element according to the invention are clearly expressed in the following description of a working process. Due to the shape of the attack part of the plastic cap, the screw can --10-- by means of an ordinary tool, e.g. B. a wrench set. The intimate connection of the plastic cap - 10 - with the grooves --32 - and the lugs - 44 - causes the force exerted on the cap - 10
EMI2.4
--20-- transferred Plastic coatings of known fasteners failed. At this point in time, the plastic cap - 10 - is moved from a loose position (FIG. 2) to a strongly tensed position (FIG. 3).
In the fully screwed position, the lower shoulder --28 - of the screw lies against the surface - of the workpiece. As soon as the outer lip --72-- comes into engagement with the surface --90-- of the workpiece, forces occur which try to separate the plastic cap --10-- from the metal head - -22--. These forces are increased up to the point at which the screw is in the fully screwed position (Fig. 3). The ring flange --50-- on the metal head -22- prevents the plastic cap --10-- from being removed.
The part of the plastic cap - 10 - lying in the ring groove --56-- between the ring flange --50-- and the shoulder 54 - is held in place by the flange - 50. This force exerted by the ring flange --50-- is sufficient to switch off the opposing forces transmitted by the lips - 72 and 76 - during the screw connection. The inventive design of the fastening element made it possible to overcome the problem of involuntary removal of the plastic cap.
Another advantage of the construction according to the invention is that a constant pressure is exerted by the annular flange - 50 - along the entire circumference of the lip --72 - and on the inner lip - 76.

extends - 76-- when the fastening element is fully screwed under the surface --60-- of the shoulder - -54-- squeezed. This achieves a further sealing of the metal part of the screw. The annular beads of the outer lip - 72 - are equally pressed by the flange - SO-- against the surface --90-- of the workpiece and thereby contribute to improving the seating of the sealing head -10- on the workpiece.
