Process for the production of petroleum briquettes.

Artificial fuels or briquettes with an addition of petroleum are known.

The latter, however, has so far only been used in such proportions that it could not determine the character of the fuel, but merely served the purpose of a binding agent or dissolving additive for other admixtures of the fuel.

Attempts to utilize the calorific value of petroleum by adding more of it to peat, coal, sawdust, etc., failed because the petroleum prevents the fuel from hardening and causes it to disintegrate when burned. Ultimately, attempts have been made to harden petroleum by saponifying it and therefore, in addition to petroleum, a fatty acid such as stearin or resin and alkali compounds such as soda, potash or lime have been added to the fuel. But even these ancestors did not lead to favorable results. The petroleum seeped through

warm mixed with each other and this (an amount then mixed with peat, which was advantageously dried beforehand.

When the d-mengo has cooled off, briquettes are pressed out of it, which harden sufficiently to suit any purpose of an artificial fuel.

As can be seen from this composition, the filler forms half of the total mass, while asphalt and petroleum the latter is used in a relatively large percentage: this is possible for the reason that asphalt contributes to the hardening of the petroleum.
