<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

EMI1.1
The invention relates to a control and drive device for assembly-line milking systems, in particular carousel milking systems, in which a constant drive speed can be continuously adjusted or changed periodically.
Carousel milking systems are known which are driven via change gears. Only different constant drive speeds can be set.
Hydraulic transmissions are also known for driving assembly line-shaped milking systems
Drive speed can be varied. However, these gears are very complex to manufacture and maintain and therefore only suitable to a limited extent for practical use.
Furthermore, the mentioned drive devices have the disadvantage that automatic
Control devices for the periodic switching of the drive and automatic safety devices for switching off the drive in dangerous moments can not be attached or only with great difficulty. In carousel milking systems without automatic safety devices, it is possible that cows that linger on the parting line between the entrance or exit and the rotating part of the system for a long time are squeezed between the partition walls of the individual stands and the aisles.
The purpose of the invention is to ensure a continuous milking process in assembly line-shaped milking systems, in particular carousel milking systems, even when the milker has different working hours for individual animals, for example to put on the milking clusters on cows with dirty udders, without the drive having to be controlled manually avoid the risk of the cows being crushed when entering and leaving the rotary milking parlor.
The invention is based on the object of creating an automatic control and drive device for assembly-line milking systems, in particular carousel milking systems, which enables the switching of periodically changed drive speeds and the setting of any constant drive speed, which should be changed within certain limits. Furthermore, the automatic control device should switch off the drive if a cow, when entering or leaving the milking installation, remains standing on the parting line between the rotating part and the entry or exit for a certain necessary time. It should also be possible to automatically control the drive speed depending on the location of the operator and to switch off the drive entirely.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that when an object, for example a cow or a milker, enters the area of action of a pulse generator, for example a pair of light barriers, and when leaving the same, a control device is influenced via an amplifier, whereby the control device is influenced as a function of the time span, beginning with the entry into the range of action of the pulse generator, the field or armature voltage of a motor changes, which is in drive connection via a gear with the ring gear of an assembly line milking system, in particular a rotary milking system, and that the field or armature voltage of the motor on a measuring instrument readable and adjustable by means of an adjustment device via the control device

is.
The pulse generators, for example pairs of light barriers, are advantageously arranged at the entrance and exit of the cows or from the moving part of the conveyor belt-shaped milking installation, in particular the rotary milking installation, and in the area of the milker's work aisle.
The drive and control device according to the invention has the advantage that, compared to the known devices, remote control and remote control of the speed of the drive motor of the system is possible, and that no mechanical linkage such as levers, shafts, handwheels, etc. are required for this.
As a result of the electrical control of the speed via the field and armature voltage of the motor, there are no wearing parts in the control device. Further advantages are a long service life and complete freedom from maintenance.
By arranging pairs of light barriers in the area of the entrances and exits of the milking facility as a pulse generator for the control device, the animals can reduce the speed of the motor with their bodies and stop it completely.
This protects the cows from being crushed. The arrangement of the light barrier pairs in the milker's work aisle enables the engine speed to be controlled automatically. This eliminates the need for manual switching operations, so that a continuous milking process is guaranteed and loss of time is avoided.
The invention will be explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment. In the accompanying drawings show:
1 shows a schematic representation of the control and drive device and FIG. 2 shows the arrangement of the light barrier pairs in milking systems in the form of a conveyor belt.
The ring gear-l-of a rotary milking system is driven by the pinion-2-from the motor-3- via the gearbox --4--. The speed of the motor --3-- is remotely controlled by changing the armature or field voltage from the control device --5--. The speed of the motor required for the milking process can be switched on manually on the adjusting device - 6. The

or Milkers, he has control over the set speed at all times. From the pairs of light barriers that are arranged at the entrance --10-- or exit --11-- to or from the movable part of the rotary milking system, control pulses are sent via the amplifier --12-- to the control device --5-- if cows are in the effective range of these light barrier pairs-8, 9-- for a certain period of time.
The amplified control pulses trigger a change in the field or armature voltage of the motor in the control unit --5-- and thus cause a reduction in speed. This can lead to a complete standstill of the motor --3. If the animals leave the area of action of the light barrier pairs -8, 9-, the opposite control process is automatically triggered and the motor speed is increased again.
The pair of light barriers -13-, which is located at the Melkers -14- work aisle, also emits control pulses when the milker -14- steps into his area of activity and stays there.
This case can occur, for example, when putting on the teat cups, if the udder of a cow is particularly dirty and therefore has to be cleaned first. The control impulses of the

If the milker --14-- has to move away from his intended workplace in the work aisle --16--, the pair of light barriers-13-via the amplifier-15-causes a setpoint change of the control device-5-and thus causes a change in the speed of the motor-3 -.
The drive speed of the rotary milking parlor can on the one hand be set manually on the adjustment device --6-- and on the other hand it is controlled by the cows via the light barrier pairs -8, 9- and via the light barrier pair -13- by the milker -14-- regulated automatically.
