Device for warning of damage to underground electrical lines, gas or water pipes or the like.
During excavation work in road construction, but also in building construction, the underground electrical cables, telephone cables, gas or water pipes are often damaged. Apart from the fact that the repair work on the damaged facilities often requires a great deal of effort, the health and life of those involved in the excavation work are endangered by the consequences of the damage.
It is a protective device for utility lines, such as cables and pipelines, that run under the

Extend the earth's surface in order to be effective in the first work phases, i.e. when the first layer of earth breaks up.
In this known embodiment, the strip-shaped plastic film is either arranged vertically in the trench and placed against a side wall so that it extends directly below the surface of the earth or a wider film is bent at right angles and also placed across the width of the trench.
This laying is impractical because it is difficult to set up the tape in and out of the trench
To hold position while the trench is being filled in. The erected tape can easily fold over and thus come to lie so just above the cable that the required distance in the extent of the digging depth of a machine digging device is no longer available and it is therefore ineffective as a warning device.
In the case of such an angled band with a vertical leg placed on a side wall of the trench and a horizontal leg lying directly below the surface of the earth, the display is also unsatisfactory, since the distance between the horizontal leg and the cable is a multiple of

It is also known to cover cables for the purpose of warning workers during excavation work at a low height above the cable lying in the trench, to introduce a layer of sand and to pour bitumen over it. This process is cumbersome and relatively expensive because it does

The invention aims to provide a device for warning of damage to electrical lines, gas or water pipes laid underground, which avoids the disadvantages of the known design mentioned.

The embodiment according to the invention, compared to the known strip-shaped foils or nets made of plastic, not only saves material, but also ensures that laying is simpler, cheaper and, at the same time, its effectiveness. In both manual and machine excavations, the staff is made aware in good time that the critical depth has been reached and that more careful excavation is necessary.
Since the excavations are now mostly carried out with machine tools, the distance between the lines or pipes and the tape should be aligned with the digging depth of these devices. It must be at least as large as the digging depth of the machine tools, i.e. around 30-50 cm, so that after a ground excavation just above the belt, the belt is gripped during the subsequent excavation, but the line or pipe cannot be grasped or damaged. In the case of pipelines with large diameters or sewer systems, it is advisable to lay several plastic strips next to one another, so that such systems are protected over their entire transverse extent.
The plastic tape can, for. B. made of polyvinyl chloride or polyethylene. The tape can be provided with a color and / or lettering that relates to the type of lines or pipes.
In the drawing, for example, a section of the earth with a low-voltage or high-voltage cable 1 and a water pipe 2 is shown. Labeled plastic strips 3, 4 are laid above the cable and the pipe and parallel to them.
