B. die Arbeit von Parris Soil Fumigants and their Use", in Plant Dis. Rep. 42 [1959], S. 273-278.

Methods of combating harmful soil fungi
1. 3-dichloropropene alone or in combination with 1,2-dichloropropane and the asymmetrical heptachloropropane are already known as nematicides. It is also known that dichloropropene and dichloropropane are practically ineffective against soil fungi, see Sect. z. B. the work of Parris Soil Fumigants and their Use ", in Plant Dis. Rep. 42 [1959], pp. 273-278.
It has now been found that, surprisingly, in addition to its nematicidal activity, heptachloropropane also has a good activity against soil fungi.
The agent to be used according to the invention is used as a solution, emulsion, suspension, powder or granulate by mixing it into the soil or applying it to the soil by means of suitable soil cultivation. In the latter case, it is left to artificial irrigation or natural precipitation to wash the preparation into the soil. The preparation can be used alone or in combination with other plant protection products, fertilizers or soil structure improvers.
Example: Fruhstorfer standard soil sterilized by heat was inoculated with pure cultures of the soil fungus Fusarium culmorum. The preparation in the form of a scatterable powder, which contained 1% active ingredient in a talc-sand mixture, was evenly mixed into the inoculated soil. The soil was filled into clay pots and, 14 days later, sown with 10 peas per pot, repeated five times.
The healthy plants were counted three weeks after sowing. The following table contains the figures.
