EMI0002.0001
<I>Beispiel 1</I> Ferrioxamin B. HCl als Eisendonator Versuchspflanzen: Tomaten, Sorte Tuckswood.
Versuchsergebnisse: Quantitative Auswertung siehe Tabelle I und II.

Agent for supplying iron to plants The present invention relates to an agent for supplying iron to plants, characterized in that
that it contains a siderochrome as an active component and, if necessary, at least one of the following additives: carriers, solvents, dispersants and adhesives, fertilizers and pest control agents.
In particular, the present invention relates to an agent of the specified type which contains a ferroxamine or a salt thereof, preferably ferricoxamine B or a salt thereof, as active ingredient.
Simons and colleagues (1962) have a number of synthetic Fisenkomplexbädner resp. their iron complexes were tested for their suitability as iron donors for plants. You! Have shown
that iron complexes with stability constants of 1015-1025 are well suited as iron donors, a complex with K 20 1028 was only suitable to a limited extent, and the complexes with constants above 1028 (ferric cyclohexan-d'iamine-tetraacetic acid K = 1028 and ferric ethyl # en-bishydrroxy-phenyllglycine K greater than 1038)
could no longer be used as iron donors.
It was surprising to find that ferrioxamine B hydrochloride is a good iron donor for plants, although:
the complex constant 103> z. The limitation of the effect to complexes with constants of less than 1028 found by Simons and co-workers is therefore probably not valid for the siderochromes. Siderochromes are <RTI
ID = "0001.0098"> Iron (III) complexes of natural triydroxamine acids. Compounds of this class of natural substances are: Ferrioxamine A, B, C, D1, Dz, E, F and G, Ferrichrom and Ferrichrom A, Ferrichrysin, Ferricrocin, Ferrixubin, Ferrirhodin, Coprogen, Terregens factor.
The observation that the siderochromes, as natural fiche (III) complexes, are good iron donors for plants, i.e. that they have a very beneficial effect on the growth of plants, surprised in a second direction:
Siderochromes are natural trihydroxamates. Asymmetrin (= hadacidin), N-formyl-hydroxyamino-acetic acid, has been described as a natural plant inhibitor (Zaroogian and Curtis 1961, 1963, 1964).
So far, no inhibitory effect on plant growth has been observed for the iron complexes of the natural trihydroxamates.
The siderochromes and their production are described in the following references: V. Prelog, Iron-containing Antibiotics and Microbic Growth Factor, in the book Pointers and Pathways in Research,
by Birla Matushri Sabhagar, Bombay, 1963 (edited by Maeve O'Connor). German patent specification No. 1 123 436 German patent specification No. 1 163 337 USA patent specification No. 3 118 823 French patent specification No.

B. the following constitution:
EMI0002.0001
A major advantage of the siderochromes over the known iron chelates used in crop protection, especially Edta, is that they can be used as a mixed preparation together with other metal-containing sprays, e.g. B.
Copper-containing agents, can be used without there being an exchange of the metal in the complex of the siderochromes or a destruction of this complex. This makes it possible to use a combined treatment, e.g. B. to carry out a simultaneous spray with the iron preparation and a copper-containing fungicide in one operation.
Further advantages of the siderochromes used in the agent according to the invention are the low application rate required, and the absolute harmlessness to warm-blooded animals.
<I> Example 1 </I> Ferrioxamine B. HCl as iron donor Test plants: Tomatoes, Tuckswood variety. The plants were grown in soil to a size of about 12 cm, the plants cut off above the earth and used as cuttings in the water cultures.
Experimental arrangement: water cultures in Mitscherlich pots with 4 plants per pot.
The pots were covered by aluminum lids with 4 holes :, the plants were in the holes through. small balls of glass floss held. Initially, the shoot was immersed in the solution, after the root formation, the nutrient solution level was lowered,
so that only the roots were immersed.
Nutrient solution: Classic Knopsche nutrient solution without added iron, instead 3 g / 1 lime (calcium carbonate) added and mixed well with a shower. The iron doses (type and amount see table) were added to the nutrient solution at the beginning of the experiment and the sewing solution was thoroughly stirred several times.
Evaluation of the experiments: 4 weeks after planting, the plants were cut off over the glass cotton ball and each plant was weighed individually. 16 plants were used per procedure.
Test results: For quantitative evaluation see Tables I and II. Ferrioxamine B can replace the effect of iron (III) edta (Edta = ethylene diamine tetra acetate) in water culture.
In one experiment, the ferrioxamine plants showed a clear growth advantage compared to the Edta plants, but this was up to. was practically balanced at the end of the experiment, in the other experiment the plants behaved indifferently, whether they use iron as iron (III)
-Edta or as ferrioxamine. Both the Ferrioxamine plants and the Edta plants showed a clear lead in growth, as in the flower bases compared to the other methods (no iron,
Iron as ferric chloride and the iron complex of acethydroxamic acid). The plants which received the iron as ferric chloride showed very strong chlorosis and necrosis in the intercostal fields. The edta and ferriaxamin plants were strong dark green and strong in appearance.

At the beginning of June, the espalier vines were treated with an aqueous solution containing 0.05% Feeiaxamin B using a backpack sprayer.
The chlorotic leaves completely greened within 10 days after treatment. In those places where necrosis was present before the treatment, the living leaf parts still turned green.
The new growth of the whole plant subsequently showed normal, healthy leaves. The healing success is lasting, because no new symptoms of chlorosis appeared by August 9th (about 70 days after the treatment).
