<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Process for the production of building boards or moldings from organically bound wood wool
Plastic foam in the form of plates, moldings, bowls and the like. Like. Is used more and more for insulation purposes. The lamination of mineral-bonded wood wool panels with rigid foam is also known. Such panels are by no means satisfactory in terms of air permeability (so-called breathing), insulation and soundproofing.
This invention is based on the object of further improving wood-wool lightweight panels combined with foam. As part of the efforts to solve this problem, it was found that organically bound wood wool bodies or panels can be produced so loosely and structurally so firmly that they form a stable framework from a relatively loose structure. According to the inventive solution to the problem set, expandable foam substances, such as B. polystyrene, urea resins, mixtures based on the polyurethanes foaming or expanding the cavities of the structure in whole or in part.
When such a structure is filled in with still unfoamed plastics, even after foaming or the like, sufficient more or less fine pores are retained in the interior of the wood wool structure to allow the respective part to breathe. According to the invention, a particular advantage is achieved by expandable foam particles introduced between their structure during the actual production of the molded bodies or panels made of wood wool. Another feature of the invention is given by closed pores on the surfaces of the individual foam particles. These closed pores can be achieved by appropriate treatment and foaming of the respective expandable substances on their surface.
The expandable foam substance can also be mixed with the wood wool-binder mixture or with the binder itself during the actual production of the lightweight building board. are added and are deformed together with these in the desired manner, the need to drive off the water of the organic binder by heat this type of process comes into play.
Since this is reinforced by the expanded foam within the structure, part of the organic binder can be saved by the method described above.
But it is also possible to enforce a rigid lightweight building board with soft or flexible foam in the manner mentioned above. This achieves special sound-absorbing properties.
However, it is also possible to incorporate foam layers of different hardness into loosely laid lightweight construction or other wood wool panels.
Example 1: Polystyrene with incorporated blowing agents in the finest grain size is poured into an appropriately loosely laid organically bound wood wool board. The plate is then subjected to one of the usual treatments for activating the foaming.
Example 2: Urea resins with blowing agents are sprayed onto a tightly laid, organically bound wood wool board, and foaming and hardening are then initiated.
Example 3: A layer of foamed material based on polyurethane is blown into an organically bound wood wool board, which after foaming results in a flexible foam.
The required quantities of expandable foam substance or its quantity and volume ratio to the mass or to the volume of the lightweight panels is different, since their greater or lesser density is decisive.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Pre-expanded plastic particles can also be foamed in the water-moist state inside the respective wood wool body through the influence of high-frequency current. In every case of foaming, including the examples chosen, the shape of the wood wool bodies or the like does not matter.
