Schallabsorbierendes Verkleidungselement für
Raumwandungen und-decken

Sound-absorbing cladding element for
Room walls and ceilings
Sound-absorbing cladding elements for room walls and ceilings are known, consisting of a hollow body made of non-porous plastic foam, which is equipped with sound access openings on the cover facing the room and is provided with a filling.
A known element (Austrian patent specification no. 191138) consists of a hollow body subdivided into compartments which can be filled, if necessary, equipped with sound access openings, the subdivision walls of which and at least its cover facing the room are made of foam plastic.
This absorber element is based on the effect of Helmholtz resonators, with the by a
Lattice made of foam plastic cavity is dependent on the optimal diameters of the sound access openings. The resonance range of this absorber element is around 500-600 Hz, and the absorption curve shows a steep maximum in the frequency range, which decays on both sides.
This absorber element is therefore particularly well suited for the acoustic correction of speech.
It is also known for sound absorbing devices made of a porous absorbent layer and a thin, almost or completely non-porous cover layer, the latter by a very thin film, e.g. B. from plastic, non-porous paper or metal to form (see. German Auslegeschrift No. 1002939).
Even with grid-shaped or sieve-shaped recesses or perforations, such as tiles, as a sound-absorbing and sound-absorbing wall covering, it is known to arrange a fine-pored, sieve-like film either directly behind the recesses or perforations or at a distance from them (see GDR patent specification No. 12717).
Very often the problem arises of acoustically insulating rooms in which low-speed machines are running and which generate unpleasant machine noise. With the known absorber element according to Austrian Patent No. 191138, this would only be possible if a very large number is used, because the absorption values at these lower frequencies are at most 50%.
The object of the invention is to develop an absorber which also has large absorption values in the low frequency range and over a wide frequency band.
Surprisingly, these requirements are met by a sound-absorbing cladding element, which is distinguished from known ones according to the invention in that the interior of the hollow body is completely filled with foam plastic chips, a particularly effective embodiment furthermore being that between the chip filling and the cover, as per se known, a film is provided which to increase the frictional resistance, for. B. is perforated by pinholes at points that are offset from the sound access openings in the cover.
According to a further feature of the invention, a known subdivision in the form of cross-shaped ribs is provided within the filling of foam material chips, the width of which extends from the bottom of the hollow body to about half its height.
The drawing shows schematically and for example a preferred embodiment of the subject matter of the invention in a diagrammatic representation in FIG. 1 and in FIG. 2 a diagram of the improvement in sound absorption that can be achieved according to the invention.
The element consists approximately of a prismatic hollow body A with a preferably square base of z. B. 25-50 cm side length and a height of z. B. 8-10 cm; this hollow body is made of

a non-porous foam plastic, e.g. B. the materials available under the trade names "Styrofoam" and "Frigolit" and can have a subdivision (not shown), for example in the form of a grid. A particularly effective subdivision that stiffens the hollow body consists of two intersecting, parallel to the walls of the hollow body laid ribs, which extend from the bottom of the hollow body to about half its height. The hollow body A is entirely with chips B, z.
Sawdust with dimensions of 0.5-3 mm, filled from foam plastic.
A film C, z. B. made of metal or a thermoplastic plastic and fixed to it. If an approximately 0.3 mm thick polyvinyl chloride film is used, this can be glued to the hollow body. This film is perforated and has z. B. at a dimension of 50 x 50 cm 140 punctures D, which have been generated with needles 0.75 to 1.5 mm in diameter.
The cover E made of foam plastic is then placed over this needled sheet and fixed to the hollow body A in the usual way. This cover is provided with the sound access openings F, which according to the invention are arranged in such a way that they are offset from the perforations D of the film C.
In FIG. 2, the sound absorption achievable according to the invention can be seen in percent as the ordinate of the diagram, with assignment to the frequency in Hz as the abscissa. The full line is the absorption curve of the cladding element according to Austrian patent specification No. 191138, while the dashed line is that of an element according to the invention with cross-shaped ribs as a grid subdivision in the interior of the hollow body without using a film C and the dash-dotted line the curve
