<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

valve is combined so that they can be easily removed or inserted together from the valve housing.
Further purposes of the invention emerge from the following description and the patent claims.
In short, an essential feature of the invention is that the body or trunk of the shut-off valve, i.e. H. the valve disk and the valve stem connected to it is provided with a continuous longitudinal bore opening into the pressure gas space in front of the shut-off valve on the one hand and into the atmosphere on the other, in which a seat coaxial with the shut-off valve for the pressure relief valve arranged with its loading spring axially in the mentioned longitudinal bore is provided.
The novel arrangement of the pressure relief valve has significant advantages, especially for steel cylinder shut-off valves. These can be seen on the one hand in the increased safety, on the other hand in the lower height and width of the complete valve and finally in the lower material and processing costs.
You can divert the gas stream blown off at overpressure vertically upwards, so that even if a jet flame forms no ignition of neighboring bottles, e.g. B. not even from bottle batteries, is possible to operate the valve handle from below and the escape route is not blocked in case of danger. In this case, however, if it should be desirable in exceptional cases, the lateral deflection of the blown gas flow by means of corresponding laterally arranged outlet bores can be retained.
In any case, the previously possible mix-up of connection and pressure relief valve nozzles is excluded and the previously associated source of danger is eliminated.
These advantages also result from the arrangement of the shut-off valve according to the invention in pressure pipes or the like.
According to a further important feature of the invention, the shut-off and safety valve can be equipped with means to prevent the penetration of solid dirt particles and the like. Like. To prevent from inside the bottle in the shut-off and safety valve assembly.
Inside of pressurized gas cylinders u. Like. Often a sediment forms from solid foreign bodies, eg. B. scale particles. These foreign bodies can get into the shut-off and safety valve arrangement and impair the valve functions when the bottle is emptied, if it is installed with the valve facing down for the purpose of removing the contents in a liquid state. In order to prevent this, according to the invention the shut-off and safety valves or their housings can be connected to dip tubes which protrude from the valve body into the pressure vessel.
When the bottle is turned upside down, any sediment that may be present in the space can be deposited laterally around the immersion tube, while the opening provided at the inner end of the immersion tube, which may also be protected with a sieve or the like, is located above the foreign bodies remains.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1, 2 and 5, the valve housing 1 has a conical threaded connector 2 for screwing into the neck of the (not shown) gas bottle or other pressure vessel. The threaded connector 3 for screwing on a pressure regulator or a connection line extends from the side of the housing. The connector 3 can be closed by the screw cap 31 provided with a seal 30.
The gas channel 4 of the valve housing ends in a valve seat 5 and goes into the valve stem. 9 receiving expanded housing chamber 7 over. The bore 6 of the connecting piece 3 opens into the chamber 7.
EMI2.1
1 and 2, the threaded part 9 of the valve stem, which has a larger diameter than the cylindrical stem part 10, is screwed in. The cylindrical part 10 carries a sealing ring 11 and has a circumferential groove for a rubber-elastic sealing ring 12, for. B. a so-called O-ring which is sealed against the wall of the cylindrical housing chamber 7. Instead of the sealing ring, another suitable sealing element (e.g. a perforated membrane, a bellows or the like) can also be used.
The elastic sealing ring can, if necessary, be movably arranged in the circumferential groove of the valve stem part 10 that receives it, so that it does not take part in the rotary movement of the valve stem 9 when the shut-off valve is opened and closed. According to the invention, however, it is advantageous to arrange the O-ring with a press fit in the groove so that it moves with the valve stem relative to the wall of the housing chamber 7. It has been found that this arrangement provides a more permanent seal with the O-ring.
EMI2.2
The valve 14 has projections 14 ′ or the like (FIG. 3) which guide it on the wall of the cylindrical part of the longitudinal bore 18 so that gas passage slots remain free. The valve 14 is held in the closed position by a compression spring 15.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the compression spring 15 is supported by an exchangeable spacer ring 17 on a spring ring 16 which is inserted into a corresponding groove in the channel 18.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3, a screw 117 with an approximately hexagonal opening 118 serves to support the compression spring 15. This screw 117 is screwed into the thread 118 ′ provided at the end of the channel 18.
By means of the screw 117, the precise setting of the pressure relief valve can be made by increasing or decreasing the tension of the spring 15.
The adjusting screw 117 and the upper opening of the overpressure channel 18 are advantageously secured by a drilled cap 119 screwed into the thread 118 ′, into which a signal cover plate 35 is inserted, if necessary, which protects the interior of the safety valve from above against the effects of weather and dirt. When the safety valve is opened, the signal plate 35 is thrown out of its seat by the gas pressure. If it is missing from the valve, it is easy to see that the pressure vessel or gas cylinder is or has been under impermissible overpressure.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the signal plate 19 is attached to the end of the channel 18.
In the embodiment of FIG. 5, the valve stem is divided. The lower cylindrical shaft part 10 has a likewise cylindrical extension 10 'which is suitably encompassed by a bush 10 ". On the periphery of the part 10' there is a circumferential groove 50 into which the head of a grub screw 51 engages the part 10 "is inserted. The part 10 ′ also has a thread 52 at the end, into which the adjusting screw 117 of the compression spring 15 is screwed. The thread 118t for the end cap 119 (with signal plate 35) is provided at the end of the socket 10 ″.
In the arrangement according to FIG. 5, the valve part 70 rotates when the control handle is turned. MC not with, but is carried along by the screw 51 in the axial direction.
This subdivision of the valve stem has the advantage that the seal 11 does not rub against the seat 5 when the shut-off valve is opened or closed, but is only moved axially towards the seat 5 without rotation.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the adjusting handle 20, which is used to open and close the shut-off valve, and the threaded part 9 of the valve stem are made in one piece. The valve body 1
EMI3.1
is assaulted. A groove 21 ′ is provided on the inside of the edge 21, into which a subdivided ring 23 made of spring steel can be inserted, which strikes the housing projection 22 when the adjusting handle 20 is moved upward and thereby limits the opening movement of the adjusting handle and thus the shut-off valve. To unscrew the valve completely from the housing, the locking ring 23 must first be removed.
According to FIGS. 2 and 5, the valve spindle 9 is connected at the top to a rotary handle 120 which, with its lower, bent edge 121, holds a ring 126 encompassing the projections 122 of the valve housing 1. In order to remove the handle 120 from the position shown in FIG. 2, the retaining cap 119 is first unscrewed from the valve stem 9. The right side of the handle 120 can then be raised so far that the projection 122 protrudes downward through the recess 120 ′ of the handle. The handle 120 is then rotated by approximately 180 without changing its inclined position, so that the recess 20 ′ comes into the region of the opposite (in FIG. 4 the left) housing projection 122. The handle can then be freely lifted upwards. To place the handle on the threaded shaft, proceed in reverse.
The handle 120 is non-rotatably, but axially detachable, connected to the upper end of the threaded part 9 of the valve stem. For this purpose, the upper end of the threaded part is, for example, hexagonal or provided with suitable cams or projections which engage in corresponding recesses or depressions in the handle 120. After the handle 120 has latched into the projections or the like of the threaded part 9, the handle is secured in its position by the cap 119, which is screwed into the internal thread 118 ′ of the threaded part 9.
If the gas which is blown off from the channel 18 at overpressure is to be discharged laterally, bores serving as blow-off channels can be provided in the valve housing 1 and in the valve spindle 9, as indicated at 24 in the drawing. In this case, the easily detachable disk 35 is expediently replaced by a fixed closure part.
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 5, a circumferential groove 150 is provided in the gas channel 18 ′ below the valve seat 13, into which the widened edge 151 of a gas pipe 152 engages, which protrudes into the gas bottle onto which the connecting piece 2 is screwed. The lower end of the immersion tube, which is provided with lateral openings 153, is covered by a cap 154, the outer diameter of which is such that the cap can be moved freely through the housing channel 4. The purpose of the tube 153 is to prevent the ingress of dirt from the bottle into the safety valve device, e.g. B. when the gas cylinder is reversed, i.e. H. is connected upside down, which may be advantageous.
The arrangement according to FIG. 2 allows the dip tube 152 to be withdrawn from the valve device without removing the valve housing 1 from the gas bottle.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 6, the immersion tube 155 is inserted into the lower end of the gas channel 4 of the threaded connector 2. It has a protective screen 156 at the lower end, which effectively retains dirt, and is covered by a cap 157.
