Cinematographic or photographic camera with automatic iris and a scanning device for the
Needle position of a galvanometer
In cinematographic or photographic cameras with automatic diaphragms, scanning devices are already known for the position of the needle of a galvanometer, with a support for the needle and a button pushing against the needle. These known constructions are relatively complicated and consequently expensive.
The aim of the invention is to create a device of the type mentioned which is particularly simple in construction and very reliable in operation. This camera according to the invention is characterized in that the support has a surface which is parallel to that which the needle passes through when it is being adjusted, and in that the button is provided with a wheel that runs on this surface, with

The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, u. between FIG. 1 in a view with the omission of part of the outer housing and in FIG. 2 in an axial section.
In the device shown, the galvanometer is fixed in a housing 9; it has a needle 2 which pivots in front of a support which is formed by a toothed segment 3. The housing 9 is closed by a cover 10 through which a shaft 11 extends, which carries a gear 4 at its outer end and an arm 5 at its inner end. The end of this arm 5 is provided with a bearing 12 for a gear 6, which can rotate in this bearing and is held by a screw 13.
The toothed segment 3 is concentric to the pivot axis of the needle 2 of the galvanometer 1 and the axis 11 is coaxial to this pivot axis.
The wheel 4 can be taken along by means of a toothed rack 7 which also has a toothing 14 which engages with a toothed sector 15 for actuating a diaphragm 8.
The operation of the device described is very simple.
The rack 7 is adjusted before the recording. to a limit position of the aperture, z. B. the maximum opening to get. The photoelectric cell feeding the galvanometer 1 is exposed to light, generally automatically, in such a way that the needle 2 assumes a position which depends on the lighting of the scene to be recorded. The rack 7 is then adjusted to close the cover, whereby the arm 5 swings and the wheel 6 rolls on the toothed segment 3. This movement lasts until the moment when the needle 2 is clamped between the gear 6 and the tooth segment 3. what a blocking of the rotation of the arm 5 and thus. also the rack 7 results. The size of the opening released by the diaphragm 8 thus depends on the position of the needle 2 of the galvanometer 1.
With the correct adjustment of the deflection of the galvanometer as a function of the lighting of the scene to be filmed, an exact exposure can be achieved under all normal shooting conditions as a result of the automatic control of the diaphragm according to the position of the galvanometer 1.
One could of course design the support surface to be smooth and replace the gear wheel 6 with a roller running on this smooth surface.
