Process for the production of easily emulsifiable oils as a substitute for cod liver oil.

The medicinal properties of the cod liver oil are known to be due to its easy emulsifiability and its natural iodine content. Dissolving pure iodine in fatty oils cannot produce a preparation with the same medicinal effect. However, by means of the process described below it is possible to obtain fatty oils of high emulsifiability and with an iodine content, which have the same medicinal medicinal value as cod liver oil. The raw material used is iodine algae clay from the sea, e.g. B. Laminaria digitata, Laminaria saccharina, Fucus serratus, Fucus Vesieulosus and the like. a.

Care must be taken to ensure that only algae that have been collected directly from the stand are used and not the algae fished from the sea, because the latter have a significantly lower content of iodine and other active substances. The seaweed has been dried, cut up and then roasted in iron drums so that it can be easily grated between the fingers. The roast is finely ground and immediately with suitable fatty oils, ideally

poured, the residue pressed out and the now ready-to-use oil filtered.

In the case of algae with a coarse structure, it is advisable to add the same weight of absolute alcohol to the ground roasted material before it is added to the oil and let it stand for a few days. The alcohol can later be removed from the oils by heating them moderately. In order to obtain a fat, which in its therapeutic properties the

also for technical purposes, e.g. B. find use as Bobröl.
