   Diese wie angegeben bereiteten Sulfoverbindungen, z. B. das   Cuprobariumsulfopolythionat,   werden zur Herstellung der Tunke in gewöhnlicher Weise, also unter Zusatz eines Oxydationsmittels, benutzt. 



   Bei Verwendung dieser Sulfoverbindungen ist die Tunke tagelang haltbar und unempfindlich gegen Erwärmen ; sie gibt sehr feste, am Zeug und an den rauhesten Reibeflachen leicht entzündbare Köpfe ; sie bedarf als Bindemittel nicht der teueren Gelatine und auch keiner giftigen Bleiverbindungen und ausserdem wird ein langsames, ruhiges Abbrennen des Kopfes erzielt. 



   Im folgenden ist als Beispiel die Zusammensetzung einer brauchbaren Zündmasse gegeben, wobei hervorgehoben wird, dass unter Beibehaltung der Sulfoverbindungen der Polythionate, z. B. des Cuprobariumpolythionats, als   hauptsächlichsten   Bestandteil,   natürlich   viele Abänderungen möglich sind.

   When using these sulfo compounds, the sauce can be kept for days and is insensitive to heating; it gives very strong heads that are easily ignitable on the stuff and on the roughest rubbing surfaces; it does not need expensive gelatine as a binding agent, nor does it require any poisonous lead compounds and, in addition, the head burns slowly and calmly.



   The following is an example of the composition of a useful ignition compound, it being emphasized that while retaining the sulfo compounds of the polythionates, z. B. the Cuprobariumpolythionats, as the main component, of course many modifications are possible.

PATENT CLAIM: Process for the preparation of a phosphorus-free ignition material for matches, characterized in that the reaction products resulting from the action of sulfur from polythionates (di-, tri-, tetra-, pentathionates) are admixed with substances which easily give off oxygen.
