The invention relates to a saw band, in particular for metalworking, which is moved in a sawing device, guided on or around deflection rollers, bent and optionally twisted, formed from a cross-section with a cross-section that is essentially concave and deviates from a precise rectangular shape Ratio width extension to thickness of at least 20: 1 carrier tape, consisting of an alloy with high flexural fatigue strength and a cutting part made of wear-resistant tool steel that is metallically connected to this tape and contains at least the tooth tips.
Metal saws, consisting of a carrier tape made of an alloy with high flexural fatigue strength and a cutting part made of tool steel welded onto it, are known. The components of such bi-metal saws have already been investigated and alloy technology proposals have been made in order to improve their performance properties. For example, the 2'gs German utility models G 9211 338.8 and G 92 11 285.4 have disclosed cutting steel and carrier tape compositions which are intended to improve the cutting stability and / or the break resistance of the saws. It seems important that the quality and fatigue strength of the carrier tape are improved, as was suggested, for example, in AT-PS-371 149 by the fine-grained nature of the material.
It has already been proposed (AT-PS-391 826) to manufacture the band from martensitic steel. According to US Pat. No. 4,603,613, a homogeneous wood saw band with the entire concave area (on the broad side (s)) was proposed. When selecting the material, however, the bending fatigue strength of the steel must be taken into account, since the tooth hardness that can be achieved is limited and the edge retention is sometimes unsatisfactory.
Bi-metal saw blades made of two materials achieve higher cutting performance, particularly in metalworking.

Carrier band and cutting part and their repercussions on a heat treatment of the band as well as on mechanical material properties or the behavior in practical use together.
Although, as tried according to AT-PS-376 705

In order to achieve an improvement through the same carbon activity of the carrier and cutting steel materials, which can certainly be successful for fracture resistance of the saw teeth, the different material properties were between zones of the narrow side limits of the band, i.e. on the one hand the side with the welded-on cutting part and on the other hand the opposite unaffected Page, different. In sawing devices for metal processing, in which the saw band is guided on or around deflection rollers, bent and, if necessary, twisted, the disadvantage of using a bi-metal design is that it is easy for the band to run or
Jump off the drive or deflection rollers, preferably in a Schmat side direction, can come.
Here, the invention seeks to remedy this and the object is to create a bi-metal saw band which can be easily and stably guided in sawing devices with deflections and rotations of the band and which has improved usage properties. This object is achieved according to the invention in a saw band of the type mentioned at the outset that the thickness of the carrier tape is reduced in the central region of the width extension of the belt and has plane-parallel support or support area on both sides of the central region having a small thickness. It was found that a running reduction in thickness in the cross-section from plane-parallel outer areas to the central area of the band results in a particularly stable position of the rotating saw band in the sawing device.
Investigations have shown that this can prevent a running instability of the saw band caused by elastic bending caused by a one-sided welding zone caused by an unevenly formed elastic convex shape of the outer broad side. When a strip according to the invention is bent, it was surprisingly found that the edge with the welding or cutting side is, if appropriate

laid out like opposite edge. This results in a stable, free saw band run with sufficiently high return forces. Experiments with plane-parallel broadside surfaces and profiled rollers did not produce any results

Results.
Even if it is slightly more complex to manufacture, it is particularly advantageous to design the surface of the broad sides of the band with a concave region on both sides in the longitudinal direction with respect to a bending of the band on both sides. This reduces external tensile stress in the band edge areas and increases the service life of the saw. It has been shown in practical operation that the above advantages of the saw band according to the invention are particularly pronounced in metalworking. Metal processing or machining increases the amount of heat that can partially cause one-sided expansion and thus destabilization of the saw band run.
Saws whose carrier tape has a reduced thickness in the center, on the other hand, maintain their running stability even with high cutting performance and thus high heating of the cutting tooth area. This applies in particular to saw bands, the width of which is determined by the uninterrupted band part reaching to the tooth base.
EMI3.1
have substantially equal proportions of the width of the carrier band, a further improvement in the properties of the saw band can be brought about if the central region of the band has a minimum thickness (0.9 to 0.75) times the thickness of the support region if, as was found, that Carrier tape made of hot-work steel with essentially in% by weight C = 0.35 to 0.55 Cr = 0.9 to 3.0 Mo = 0.5 to 1.5 V = 0.1 to 0.6

Material made from high-speed steel, in particular from a material according to DIN material no. 1. 3247, can also be used to achieve excellent usage properties of the saw band in terms of alloy technology.

In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the metallic bond between the carrier tape and the cutting part is formed by electron beam or plasma welding, because it has been found that such connections have little influence on the material or structure of the adjacent zones.
1 and 2 (DIN material no. 1. 2323 carrier tape I material no. 1. 3247 cutting part), which had a width of 41.5 mm and a thickness of 1.27 mm Investigations carried out in a sawing device with bending and torsion of the strip over or by deflecting rollers. It was found that a circular running reduction 22 in the thickness of the carrier tape 1 from 0.1 to 0.3 mm over a central region of 10 to 30 mm can achieve stable circulating properties of the saw band in one device.
The highest stability of a saw band of the same width and thickness dimension in the tooth area could be achieved with a central molding running on both sides and a greatest reduction in thickness of approx. 0.2 mm with a width extension of approx. 20 mm.
