Device for continuous measurement of the humidity of pre-dried goods
The invention relates to a device for the continuous measurement of the humidity of, in particular, those goods which have an outer dry casing after a drying or roasting process, in
EMI1.1
This depends not only on the structure of the material treated in this way, but is influenced to a large extent by the furnace temperature, the throughput speed and the layer thickness of the material or, in the case of lumpy material, the height of the bed in the furnace.
Since, for example, the pressing of chipboard is only possible with a certain moisture content, this must be constantly monitored. So far, for this purpose, samples of the material emerging from the furnace have been constantly examined and then the aforementioned operating parameters have been regulated. This does not always happen reliably, especially since the examinations are time-consuming and cumbersome.
It is also known to use roller electrodes for continuous monitoring of the moisture content of textile or paper webs. For this purpose, gear-like intermeshing electrode rollers have also been used for materials that can be wound up. The use of such roller electrodes is not readily possible for pourable material, since if the roller pressure is too low, a usable measured value display would not be achievable.
For granular, pourable material, corrugated rollers have already been used, which, like grinding rollers, completely crush the material. As a result, depending on the other nature of the goods, the grooves become blocked, which almost completely prevents a reliable measurement. Certain goods can also no longer be used for further processing after they have been shredded. In another known device, the material is therefore removed from the normal conveying path by means of a screw and pressed against a resiliently arranged conical electrode. This process is cumbersome due to its larger apparatus and can only be used for floury goods without crust formation. Granular, lumpy or fibrous material cannot be continuously monitored in this way.
The invention has created a device with which continuous monitoring during the processing of goods with different moisture content due to their structure is possible.
The device according to the invention makes use of the arrangement of roller electrodes with interlocking angular bumps, between which the material to be measured is passed. In order to avoid the disadvantages mentioned, grain rollers designed as electrodes are now used according to the invention, the edged, pointed cusps of which are offset from one another in the circumferential direction and alternately mesh with one another, one roller being arranged to be adjustable in an approximately tangential direction to the other and resiliently mounted in the adjustment direction is.
Due to their arrangement and design, the interlocking rollers allow a contact pressure that only attacks the surface of the goods.
According to a further feature of the invention, it is advantageous to drive one roller via an elastic coupling, while the other is carried along solely by the contact pressure exerted on the material. The damage caused by the destruction of a possibly encrusted surface with the wal-
