Process for the acidic peroxide bleaching of textile fibers
The parent patent no. 203454 relates to a process for acidic peroxide bleaching of textile fibers, such as native or regenerated cellulose fibers, protein fibers, synthetic fibers and the like. Like. And consists in that the materials to be bleached are treated with a solution adjusted to 3 to 6, preferably 4, 5 - 5, 5, which contains hydrogen peroxyS, acetic anhydride or acetic acid and an agent which is favorable for the bleaching process sets ion balance. By titrating with potassium permanganate and then adding potassium iodide and titrating with sodium thiosulphate solution, the ratio of the residue of hydrogen peroxide still remaining in the bath to the peracids formed can be determined.

It has proven to be beneficial to shift this ratio as far as possible in favor of the peracid formed. The parent patent already names a number of substances by which this ionic balance is favorably influenced in the above-mentioned sense. It has now been found that the addition of ammonia or substituted ammonium bases can bring about a particularly favorable shift in the ion equilibrium. According to the present invention, this shift can be carried to such an extent that practically no more hydrogen peroxide can be detected in the solution with potassium permanganate. If you ensure that the pH value does not exceed 5.5 in the finished mixture, there is practically no loss of elemental oxygen.

Example: 0.72 kg of hydrogen peroxide, 2.2 kg of acetic anhydride and 0.5 kg of ammonia are dissolved in 1000 l of water, and 0.23 kg of sodium pyrophosphate are added to the solution. The p-value of the solution should not exceed 5.5. The material to be bleached is treated with this solution at a temperature of 70 to 950 C for one to two hours.
