  Biegsames Metallrohr.

  Flexible metal tube.

The invention relates to those flexible tubes which are made of appropriately profiled. Metallenon binders exist, which are wound in such a spiral shape. that the individual turns interlock. The aim of the invention is to increase the tight seal and the resistance of such pipes without impairing the flexibility.

In the drawings, Fig. 1 is a perspective view, partly in section, of a flexible tube; 2 and 3 are sections on an enlarged scale of previously customary, known profiles: FIG. 4 is a section of a profile modified according to the present invention and FIG. 5 is another embodiment of the same profile.

Compared to the known flexible tubes on a wound spiral band according to the profile shown in Fig. 2, as well as compared to the known crimping of the edges according to Fig. K, the essence of the invention is that the edge reinforcements are formed by thickening one and the same piece of tape.
 EMI1.1

The edge reinforcements m and n can be arranged inclined to the pipe axis instead of at right angles (Fig. 5). The pressure inside the tube, which causes the spiral turns to stretch, is absorbed by the outer edges, which consequently tend to open outwards. As a result, the outer edges inclined to the pipe axis are better able to withstand being bent outwards. Furthermore, the seal f is also kept in its position more securely and the possibility of its leakage from the pipe is significantly reduced.
 EMI1.2
and the bands may only be provided with edge reinforcement on one side instead of on both sides.
