Parallel guide device for rulers (drawing rails) on drawing boards
The invention relates to a parallel guide device for rulers (drawing rails) on drawing boards, in which the ruler (drawing rails) carries sleeves through which sleeves attached to the drawing board pass through.

The known devices of this type have the disadvantage that if the ruler is guided only on one side by a sleeve at one end of the ruler, the second ruler end, resting freely on the drawing board, swings out when the pencil is applied, so that the parallelism is disturbed. If, on the other hand, such guide sleeves are provided at both ends of the ruler, then both sleeves must be moved by hand at the same time when the ruler is moved, which is inconvenient because the draftsman has to free both hands. If the shift occurs in such a way that only one of the two sleeves is grasped and shifted, the second sleeve corners and shifts by a smaller amount than the first sleeve was shifted, so that the parallelism is disturbed again.

According to the invention, these disadvantages are eliminated in that the ruler, which is guided through a sleeve only at one end, has rollers, balls or the like with a surface that is adhesive to the drawing board and can be rotated about axes which are directed perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the guide rod penetrating the sleeve .

Roll rulers are already known which have parallel rollers or the like in order to achieve parallel displacement. However, these are all short rulers that lie freely on the drawing board and have to be pressed down onto the drawing surface by hand. Such a parallel guiding device has not proven itself with long rulers.
