Description

    Fire extinguishing agents.

In the known foam extinguishing method, which is particularly suitable for fighting fires of such liquids that are lighter than water, by the action of two separately held solutions of bicarbonate on the one hand and an acid, for. B. sulfuric acid ,. on the other hand carbon dioxide develops. Foam concentrates, which are added to either one or the other solution, should cause the released carbonic acid to form a dense foam that should cover the burning liquid and smother the flames. There are also foam extinguishing systems known in which bicarbonate on the one hand and z. B. oxalic acid, on the other hand, are housed in the solid state in separate cartridges into which water is introduced in the event of fire, whereupon the two solutions are mixed.

In this case, the foam agent is added to one of the two solid components. So far, liquorice root extract or saponins have been used as foam-producing agents. Like. Used.

It has also already been proposed to use sulfonic acids from naphthalene-formaldehyde or phenol-formaldehyde condensation products, alkylated naphthalene sulfonic acids, sulfonic acids from mineral oils or alkylated mineral oils, lignosulfonic acid, naphthenic acids, taurocholic acid or sulfonated fatty acids as foam agents for fire-releasing purposes.
