Zeit verwittert.Process for the production of an easily dispersible fire extinguishing powder $
from sodium bicarbonate The invention relates to a process for the preparation
an easily spreadable fire extinguishing powder made from sodium bicarbonate. The known
Fire extinguishing powders have the disadvantage that they absorb moisture from the air
and caking, the scatterability of the powder being lost. Now it is
known from the production of soda containing water of crystallization for the purpose of crystallization
the same to set the soda in motion and to the same fatty acid or mixtures
sprinkle them with water. However, this known method is for production
fire extinguishing powder is not suitable because the powder produced according to the same
still absorbs some moisture from the air and especially after a long time
Time weathered.
doppeltkohlensaurem Natrium vermischt.A fire extinguishing powder that remains constantly spreadable is now in accordance with
the invention achieved by using a relatively small amount of an in
Water insoluble salt of a fatty acid, such as magnesia stearate, with powdered
mixed with double carbonate of sodium.
It is known to use powdered sodium bicarbonate or a
other salt, which forms a flameproofing gas when heated
to use a gas under pressure as a fire extinguishing agent. Sodium double carbonate
however, has the undesirable property of absorbing moisture from the air and
to bake together, especially if it has been in the same container for a long time
is kept.
Tests have now shown that the addition of water-insoluble salts
of fatty acids those materials that are hygroscopic and have the tendency to
caking on standing, changed so that they do not contain moisture
absorb more from the air. B. a relatively small amount of one
metallic stearic salt thoroughly with sodium bicarbonate in powder forums
mixed, you can pour water onto this mixture yourself without the powder
seems to get wet at all, and without any noticeable solution
of the salt. Any metallic stearin salt can be used for this purpose
may be used, for example the salts of zinc or aluminum, however
Magnesium stearate preferred. Also have experiments with appropriate oleates and
Palmitates provided satisfactory results with the experiments
even
have shown that the salts of these fatty acids not only contain sodium bicarbonate,
but also on many other substances that can be used as fire extinguishers,
can be applied.
Doppeltkohlensaures Natrium ... 97 °
Magnesiumstearat . . . . . . . . . . . . i,5 -
Magnesiumcarbonat .. . . . . . . . . . i -
Tricalciumphosphat . . . . . . . . . . . o,5-
The mixture is used to produce a fine-grain fire extinguishing powder. A small amount of tricalcium phosphate is expediently added to the bicarbonate and the salt of the fatty acid. This addition increases the ability of the mixture to disperse easily, even when the outside air is very humid. It is also useful to add a small amount of light magnesium carbonate to increase the amount of powder. A very satisfactory fire extinguishing powder has the following composition: Sodium double carbonate ... 97 °
Magnesium stearate. . . . . . . . . . . . i, 5 -
Magnesium carbonate ... . . . . . . . . i -
Tricalcium phosphate. . . . . . . . . . . o, 5-
The proportions of the various constituents can, however, vary within wide limits and the magnesium carbonate and tricalcium phosphate do not necessarily have to be added. However, the above-mentioned mixture has proven to be particularly useful for fire-fighting purposes because caking of the double carbonate of sodium in its container is completely avoided. The mixture stays completely dry under all moisture conditions and can either be simply poured out from a larger opening or pushed through small holes without clogging it.
