Description

   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

  Process for the production of tablets and similar structures.

     Water-soluble substances often only dissolve very slowly in water after being converted into tablets or similar structures. It has been found that you can meet the practical need for rapidly dissolving tablets in such a way that you u in the manufacture of tablets. Like. From water-soluble substances, urea or its water-soluble alkyl substitution products are used as additives. Urea is completely non-toxic, its taste is not unpleasant. Since it is still not hygroscopic, the use of urea for the stated purpose has the advantage over other methods of not requiring the addition of water-binding agents.

   The use of urea does not rule out the simultaneous addition of the water-soluble agents otherwise customary for tablet compression, such as sugar, lactose, sodium bicarbonate, etc.

   In the already known urea-containing tablets, e.g. B. Ureabromin, Citrurea, Veronacetin and Gelonida somnifera, the urea is used as such to bring about a pharmacological, z. B. the diuretic or sleep-inducing effect. The purpose of the present application is quite different, namely to bring about a physical effect. At the selected concentration, the pharmacological effect does not come into play compared to the active components. This physical effect achieved by urea and its alkyl-substituted water-soluble derivatives is entirely new and of great practical importance. It is completely independent of the pharmacological effect.

   Example 1: 2 parts by weight of urea are intimately mixed with one part by weight of sublimate and pastilles of 1.5 g are produced therefrom in the usual manner.

   Example 2: Silver nitrate and urea are intimately mixed in equal parts by weight and pressed into sticks.

   Example 3: Theobromine sodium. salie. and monomethylurea are mixed in equal parts by weight and compressed into tablets.

   Example 4: From a mixture of 2 parts by weight of diethylbarbituric sodium, one
