   Es entstehen daher bei der   erfindungsgemässen   Arbeitsweise auch nicht die geringsten Mengen leichtflüchtiger Kohlenwasserstoffe, Benzine oder Öle, sondern es fallen, wie bei dem Verfahren des Stammpatentes, feste, schmelzbare Extrakte an, da lediglich intermediär anfallende dehydrierte   Lösungsmittelanteile   hydriert werden. 



   Das Verfahren nach der Erfindung kann auch unter Verwendung von Katalysatoren durchgeführt werden. Als besonders geeignet haben sich die Verbindungen   des Molybdäns und   der andern Elemente der Gruppe 6 a des periodischen Systems erwiesen. 



   Arbeitet man wie bei dem oben angegebenen Beispiel in Gegenwart von auf   200   Atm. komprimiertem Wasserstoff. aber sonst unter gleichen Bedingungen der Temperatur und der Verweilzeit wie beim Beispiel 1 des Hauptpatentes und verwendet man Molybdänsäure als Katalysator, so wird ebenfalls ein Tetrahydronaphthalinzerfall praktisch vermieden. Es findet ein Wasserstoffverbraueh von nur   dz   auf Kohle bezogen, statt. Die Extraktausbeute erhöht sieh auf   88%,   während man beim Arbeiten olme Katalysator nur eine Ausbeute von   85%   erzielt.
