Device for equalizing the temperature of a body placed in a heated container made of a material that conducts heat well.
The invention relates to a device for maintaining the same temperature of a body accommodated in a heated container made of a material with good thermal conductivity.
In known devices of this type, the temperature of the body changes as a function of the temperature of the surroundings of the container. The greater the difference between the temperature of the body and the temperature of the surroundings of the container, the more difficult and the more imprecise is the temperature control of the body to be heated in the known devices of this type. The desired effect is adversely affected by the fact that the temperature of the body to be heated is not regulated immediately by the control means, but rather with a certain time delay.
Such a device is shown in FIG. 1. In it, a body 1, the temperature of which is to be kept constant, lies on an insulating block 5 which is accommodated in a container 4 with good thermal conductivity. An electrically heated winding is used as the heat source 3 and a temperature-sensitive element 2, for example a mercury thermometer, controls the heating current.
If the temperature of the surroundings of the container is very low, the heating period will last a long time, as the temperature increases due to the low temperature of the container itself and the difference between the temperature of the environment and the container being heated and the associated thermal radiation of the container only takes place slowly. Shortly after the container has reached the desired temperature, the thermometer switches off the heating.
The subsequent cooling takes place relatively quickly because of the large temperature gradient between the container and the outside temperature. If the temperature of the container has fallen to a certain point, the heating is switched on again by the thermometer. However, before the heating has achieved the desired effect, the container temperature will drop significantly further. On the other hand, if the surrounding temperature is very high, the process will be reversed, i.e. H. the heating season will be short. As a result of the after-effects of the heating, as soon as the desired temperature is reached, it will rise even further and then slowly decrease to the desired temperature. The heating is switched on again immediately after the temperature falls below the set temperature, whereupon the game repeats.
This consideration shows that when the ambient temperature is low, the average body temperature is below the set temperature and when the ambient temperature is high it is above the same.
According to the invention, a device for keeping the temperature of a body constant in a heated container made of a highly thermally conductive material, which contains a temperature regulator directly or indirectly influencing the heating element in the immediate vicinity of the wall, is provided with an additional heating element. This additional heating element 6, which is small in relation to the main heating element 3, is located inside the container in the immediate vicinity of the main heating element.
The heat output of the additional heating element is controlled by the temperature controller together with that of the main heating element.

An embodiment of this arrangement according to the invention is shown in FIG.
A small part 6 of the heater 3 is arranged below the body 1 to be kept at a constant temperature. The heat developed by this small heating element 6 can, for example, be% 0 that of the element:; his. If the heating elements 3 and 6 are resistors through which a current flows, the resistor 6 can be set so that the mean temperature of the body is as constant as possible and independent of the temperature of the surroundings of the container, i.e. H. is maintained by the temperature gradient between this and its surroundings.
The effect of the heat source 6 in compensating for the temperature change of the body 1 due to the temperature change of the environment is due to the fact that its effect on the body 1 is much more pronounced than on the temperature-sensitive element 2, which is arranged in the container wall. If all of the heating were contested by the source 6, it is easy to see that the mean temperature of the body would be higher than the temperature to which the control device is set and that the mean temperature of the body 1 would be higher, the higher the surrounding temperature is lower.
Since the mean temperature of the body 1 in the known arrangement with a single source 3 at a low ambient temperature is lower than the temperature to which the apparatus S is set, it is understandable that with a suitable setting of the heat sources 3 and 6 absorbed heating currents a complete compensation can be achieved, d. This means that the mean temperature of the body 1 is independent of the temperature of the surroundings of the container.
