Process for the production of colored structures, in particular rayon, from regenerated cellulose or cellulose derivatives.
It is known that mass-colored structures made of regenerated cellulose or cellulose derivatives, for example rayon, can be produced by adding color pigments to the solutions of these substances prior to precipitation, eg. B. soot or iron oxide, added in fine distribution,
It has now been found that color pigments are particularly suitable for this purpose, such as those obtainable from titanium dioxide, titanium sulfate and similar titanium compounds and other suitable metal compounds by calcining them together. These include, for example, the pigments which can be produced by annealing titanium dioxide together with nickel, cobalt, iron, copper or aluminum compounds, alone or in a mixture with one another, which are hereinafter referred to as titanate pigments for short.
With a suitable choice of components, these can be produced in a wide range of different colors.
The titanate pigments used are obtained by calcining the heavy metal compounds and a corresponding titanium compound together.
By grinding, which is optionally carried out in the presence of dispersants or wetting agents, the pigments to be used according to the invention can be brought into a sufficiently fine distribution so that they do not hinder the spinning process and the quality of the products obtained, e.g. B. not affect their mechanical properties. You can the solutions of cellulose or cellulose derivatives before filtering and precipitation in suitable amounts, depending on the desired color, for. B. in amounts of 1 to 5% based on the cellulose weight, added, whereupon the further processing of the solutions can take place in the usual way. However, the pigments can also be added to the cellulose or the cellulose derivatives or the solvents before dissolution.
By using such titanate pigments, it is possible, for example, to produce excellent, genuinely colored rayon, e.g. B. copper, viscose or acetate rayon, produce, it is particularly easy to produce a wide range of light and fashionable tones. Artificial silk dyed in this way also has a pleasant matt luster without its strength, softness or other properties having suffered as a result of the inclusion of the pigment particles.
Example 1: About 3% of a finely ground nickel-containing titanate pigment with the approximate composition NiO is added to a copper artificial silk spinning solution of conventional composition. TiO added, which has been obtained by calcining together equivalent amounts of nickel carbonate and titanium dioxide at 900-1000 C. After spinning, a beautiful, yellow-colored rayon of excellent quality is obtained.
Example 2 A pigment suspension is added to a conventionally prepared copper ammonia cellulose solution, which is obtained by grinding a cobalt- and aluminum-containing titanate pigment with the approximate composition CoO. 2Al203. aTiO, which has been obtained by calcining together the equivalent amounts of cobalt, aluminum sulfate and titanium dioxide with water or copper oxide ammonia solution in the presence of a condensation product of oleyl alcohol with ethylene oxide. The cellulose solution, spun in the usual way, provides a light blue colored, beautifully matt artificial silk thread.
Other titanate pigments can be used in the same way; so with iron-containing pigments one obtains red-brown tones, with cobalt-containing pigments green tones. Correspondingly colored structures can also be produced from viscose or cellulose acetate solutions.
