Process for the production of wire ropes.
The cores of wire ropes can experience twisting both during rope manufacture and during operation of the ropes. The structure of the soul changes. This is particularly noticeable in souls made of spinnable materials, such as hemp, sisal, etc. However, the change in the structural density enables the rope elements to be displaced, which can have detrimental consequences for the service life of the ropes.
In order to remedy this inconvenience, cores are used according to the invention for the production of the wire ropes, which are formed partly from right-hand and partly from left-hand elements. As far as possible, the soul should be made up approximately half of left-hand elements and half of right-hand elements. If the elements are of the same type and differ only in the direction of impact, then the most expedient arrangement is the one in which the core elements lie in an alternating sequence according to their direction of impact.
In the case of the cores produced according to the invention, the mean structural density does not change with the contortions in question. The structure according to the invention is particularly advantageous in the case of cores made of short-cut elements.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A process for the production of wire ropes, the core of which consists of several (in particular short-pitched) elements made of spinnable material, characterized in that a core is used for the wire rope, which is formed partly from left-handed and partly from right-handed elements .
