Furthermore, mixed aliphatic-aromatic isoeyanic acid esters can also be used, provided that they contain a saturated aliphatic radical of at least 10 carbon atoms. The active N = C = O group can be linked directly to the aromatic ring, e.g. B.
EMI2.1
The aromatic radical can be hydrogenated, chlorinated or otherwise substituted.
It has also been found that isoeyanates of the general formula R. CO. N = C = O with

denote the sterol series. The isocyanates of the formula R. CO. N = C = O are obtained by the action of cyanate salts on acid chlorides (see Ber. 36, p. 3213, C. Billeter: On the action of cyanate silver from acid chlorides "). Analogously to the isocyanic acid esters, the isocyanates of the acid radicals react with alcohols Formation of the corresponding carbamic acid esters When cellulose is acted on, analogous carbamic acid esters are also formed.
Those bodies that can easily be converted into isocyanic acid esters are also useful, e.g. B. the corresponding fatty acid azides. It is known that these are transformed into the corresponding isoeyanic acid esters with the escape of nitrogen.
Furthermore, isoeyanates were used with success to make the textiles water-repellent, which contain in the alkyl radical the remainder of a saturated or unsaturated alcohol from the series of sterols. The sterol mixtures contained in the unsaponifiable portion of the wool fat are advantageously used as the technical starting material for the alcohols of the sterol series. For the purpose of introducing the active -N = C = 0 group, these alcohols are converted into ester or ether carboxylic acids and the chlorides of these ester or ether carboxylic acids are converted into the azides or by Curtius degradation. Isocyanates converted. So z. B. Cholesterol reacted with adipic acid dichloride or in the simplest case with oxalyl chloride to the half ester and the latter converted into the azide or isoeyanate according to Curtius.
The new bodies mentioned are characterized by an extraordinarily large reaction
EMI2.3
This can be done wisely by exposing the goods to a higher temperature for a few minutes.
In the case of acetyl cellulose, it is also possible to add the above-mentioned agents to the spinning solution itself in order to combine the process of making water repellent with the spinning process.
Immediately after the spinning process, the fibers made of cellulose or cellulose derivatives can also be treated with the claimed products.
The textile material can be impregnated with the above-mentioned agents in any way, with or without the use of organic solvents, by emulsifying in aqueous solution, by soaking, spraying or the like. The addition of catalysts to achieve the desired effect is possible, but not necessary. The effect is also resistant to light household laundry. After thoroughly rinsing the soap and drying, the textile material shows again
