Abermals
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Automatic regulator for the water supply of a gas turbine set up as a steam generator.
Modern technology knows controllers for a wide variety of purposes and in many different designs, some of which work automatically, some of which are controlled by appropriate instruments.
The present invention primarily aims to regulate the temperature of the steam which is generated from the cooling water supplied to an internal combustion turbine and prevents both overheating and flooding of the turbine rotor as a steam generator by changing the required water pressure in each case - which influences its quantity supply. The
Such an apparatus appears to be necessary because it is hardly possible to observe the water level in a rapidly rotating steam generator, as represented by a gas turbine rotor, and to regulate it through human activity.
The invention consists in the fact that a suitable heat measuring instrument changes the spring tension of an overpressure valve connected to the feed line via a suitably designed gearbox which is moved by an electric motor in such a way that the steam generator only receives as much water as with any heating expenditure in the internal combustion turbine can be vaporized.
The subject of the invention is shown in the sketch in two figures.
The pressure relief valve 1 is connected to the feed pressure line and connected to the steam generator by means of the connector 1 a and to the return line to the tank by means of the connector 1 b. Its loading spring 2 is changed in its tension by the screw spindle 3 inserted with its square through the gear 4, whereby the water flowing through the valve 1 is more or less ordered into the return line. The pyrometer 12 is a special instrument whose ring 14 moves the loosely mounted pointer 13 between two contact poles. The pointer tail carries the sliding contact 17, which brushes the contacts 18 pushed underneath it.
Stimulated by the temperature of the steam emerging from the turbine rotor, the pyrometer rises. The rotation of the ring 14 connects the pole 15 to the pointer 1. 3. Pole jJ is permanently connected to the electric motor 6. By rotating the pointer, its tail contact 17 will brush one of the contacts 18 and thus the circuit from the power source 19 via the positive line to the panel M - the bottom of which carries a number of self-closing spring contacts 11 (see enlargement of Fig. 2) - via an intermediate line to the Close the relevant contact 18 via the motor line to the motor 6, the pointer serving as a current bridge.
Motor 6 starts up and screws the spindle 3 downwards by means of the meshing gears; Motor 5 is turned while idling. This increases the spring tension of 2 and more water has to flow to the steam generator. With the spindle 3, its extension 7 is also rotated; it has a left thread and thus screws the sliding shoe 8, which is guided between the strips 9, deeper until it depresses one of the buttons on the panel and thus interrupts the circuit by releasing one of the spring contacts 11. Motor 6 stops. If the steam temperature rises further, the pyrometer switches on the current again via the next sliding contact, whereby the motor 6 again increases the water supply to the machine in the manner described.
If the steam temperature falls, the ring 14 releases the pole 15 from the pointer and connects the pole 16 with it. As a result, motor 6 is switched off and motor 5 is in the electrical circuit. The next time contact is made between 17 and 18, the motor 5 starts up and, since it is a counter-rotation to motor 6, screws the spindle 3 upwards and thus reduces the water supply to the machine. Again

the sliding shoe 8 will interrupt the circuit by means of one of the spring contacts 11 and switch off the engine.
Due to the play of the ring 14, the amount of water supplied to the steam generator is changed in the necessary manner so that flooding of the rotor is excluded and the rotor is cooled to the correct extent at the same time. Due to this arrangement, the temperature of the steam generated must always have the set mean value, even with fluctuating heating requirements in the turbine.
