Crocheted men's hat.
The subject of the invention is a crocheted men's hat, which is made from bundled viscose threads in place of the previously usual materials such as straw, silk or wool. This material combines the advantages of the aforementioned materials without having their disadvantages. It has a woody structure like straw, but is not as brittle and moisture-sensitive as this, is tougher like silk, without the high price and the fine threads of silk, and also does not have the disadvantage of felting like wool. Such a hat is easy to wash, can be produced or dyed in all colors and has good air permeability and low weight with great durability.
The material used for crocheting the hats according to the invention is bundled viscose threads, which consist of about 10-30 thin, tough and matt individual threads. This material can be impregnated to produce the necessary rigidity and the finished hat then has the appearance of the otherwise common types of straw and bast; As a result of the production by crocheting, there is no closed surface, but rather a surface interspersed with smaller holes, which results in the desired air permeability.
The production is carried out, for example, in such a way that, starting in the middle of the stump, four chain stitches are crocheted in a circle. Then continue to crochet single crochets in a spiral all around, slowly increasing, so that a circular disc of the size you want
Head width arises. Finally, the brim is crocheted according to the desired width by increasing again. In order to get a reinforced and stiffer edge, the last rows are crocheted over starting from the inside to form a second layer.
When the raw shape of the stump is finished, it is pressed into the usual oval shape, impregnated with suitable means, e.g. B. strengthened or soaked with liquid viscose or other stiffening substances. Finally, the tape and welding leather are attached.
Even if women's hats have been made several times and in a wide variety of shapes and materials by crocheting, it was not previously known that men's hats can also be made in this way without these hats noticeably differing in appearance from the straw hats common in men's fashion .
